The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon seeks a Project Manager Assistant to join the Civil Society Fund team. The role reports to the Programme Director and involves coordinating proposals, monitoring projects, and engaging with funded initiatives.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or related field, 5+ years of experience, willingness to travel, and excellent English. Knowledge of civil society and non-profit sectors is a plus.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or related field.
  • At least five years of professional experience in similar roles.
  • Willingness to travel across Portugal and occasionally internationally.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong communication, autonomy and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of civil society, social justice or non-profit sector is a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Contribute to the management and assessment of applications submitted under the Programme’s various calls for proposals.
  • Manage and monitor projects and related activities, ensuring the achievement of agreed objectives, outputs and results.
  • Maintain close engagement with funded projects through regular meetings and site visits.
  • Assess requests for project amendments, progress reports, final reports and supporting evidence of deliverables, and prepare recommendations for approval.
  • Represent the Programme at events related to the projects under its responsibility.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose fundamental purpose is to improve people’s quality of life through the arts, philanthropy, science and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon and its branches in Paris and London.

We are seeking a Project Manager Assistant to join the Civil Society Fund team.

The Civil Society Fund is a programme funded by the EEA Grants, aimed at supporting Civil Society Organisations that promote democratic values, human rights and equality, while contributing to the strengthening of the civil society sector.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Programme Director and will work closely with the Programme team.

Contract Type: Fixed-term employment contract for an indefinite duration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the management and assessment of applications submitted under the Programme’s various calls for proposals.
  • Manage and monitor projects and related activities, ensuring the achievement of agreed objectives, outputs and results.
  • Maintain close engagement with funded projects through regular meetings and site visits.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Humanities or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years’ professional experience in similar roles.
  • Availability to travel extensively throughout Portugal, with occasional international travel.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of and/or professional experience in the Programme’s areas of intervention (civil society, social justice and human rights) and the non-profit sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a collaborative team-oriented approach.
