The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon is seeking a Communications Officer to develop and implement the communication strategy for the Civil Society Fund - EEA Grants Programme in Portugal, ensuring high-quality digital content. Qualificações

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Audiovisual Production, Design or a related field.
  • A minimum of two to three years' professional experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in storytelling and impact communications.
  • Excellent writing skills in English and Portuguese.
  • Ability to travel across Portugal, including the autonomous regions, with occasional international travel.

Responsabilidades

  • Develop content for digital platforms including social media, websites, newsletters, and presentations.
  • Produce multimedia content: short videos, interviews, feature stories, photography, and infographics.
  • Visit funded projects to capture on-site content across Portugal.
  • Draft, edit, and ensure quality of all Programme communication materials.
  • Update the Civil Society Fund websites dedicated to the Programme.
  • Translate technical information into clear, human-centred narratives.
  • Support development and implementation of the communication strategy with partners.
  • Monitor reach and impact using analytics and adjust activities as needed.
  • Plan and deliver events (in-person and online) like conferences and webinars.
  • Represent the Programme at national and international meetings as required.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is a private institution whose fundamental purpose is to improve people's quality of life through the arts, philanthropy, science and education. The Foundation carries out its activities from its headquarters in Lisbon and its branches in Paris and London.

We are seeking to strengthen the Civil Society Fund team by recruiting a Communications Officer.

The successful candidate will share responsibility for developing and implementing the communication strategy for the Civil Society Fund - EEA Grants Programme in Portugal, ensuring the creation of high-quality digital content to effectively promote the Programme's initiatives and strengthen its visibility. The role will involve close collaboration with the Programme team and with the communications teams of the consortium partners.

Contract Type: Fixed-term employment contract for an indefinite duration.

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation and Management
  • Develop communication content for a range of digital platforms and formats, including social media, websites, newsletters, presentations and promotional materials.
  • Produce and/or coordinate the production of multimedia content, including short videos, interviews, feature stories, photography, infographics and impact stories.
  • Visit funded projects across mainland Portugal and the autonomous regions to capture multimedia content on site.
  • Draft, edit and ensure the quality of all Programme communication materials, including articles, presentations, reports and promotional content.
  • Update and maintain the Foundation's and the EEA Grants Programme websites dedicated to the Civil Society Fund.
  • Translate technical information into clear, engaging and human-centred narratives tailored to different audiences.
Strategic Communications Support
  • Support the development and implementation of the Programme's communication strategy, in coordination with the consortium partners and the Programme team.
  • Monitor and evaluate the reach, impact and effectiveness of communication activities using analytics tools and performance metrics, recommending adjustments where appropriate.
  • Support the planning and delivery of in-person and online events, including conferences, webinars, capacity-building sessions and workshops organised by the Programme team.
  • Represent the Programme at national and international meetings and events organised by the donor or other relevant organisations, whenever required.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Audiovisual Production, Design or a related field.
  • A minimum of two to three years' professional experience in a similar role.
  • Technical skills in video production, editing and post-production, motion graphics, web design or other areas that enhance the Programme's communication activities.
  • Proven experience in storytelling and impact communications.
  • Practical knowledge of communication tools and platforms, including social media, content management systems (CMS) and analytics tools.
  • Availability to travel throughout Portugal, including the autonomous regions, with occasional international travel.
  • Excellent writing skills and a strong command of both Portuguese and English.
  • Knowledge of and/or professional experience in the Programme's areas of intervention (civil society, social justice and human rights) and the non-profit sector.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently, and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
