Job summary

Connect Digital is seeking a Network & Security Engineer to join a project in Portugal. This 100% remote position targets professionals with solid experience in enterprise network infrastructure, security and connectivity.

You will collaborate with infrastructure, security, cloud and operations teams to ensure stability, security and evolution of network services, covering switching, routing, firewalls and VPNs. English communication is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on network engineering or operations.
• Strong knowledge of switching, routing, wireless, TCP/IP.
• Experience with enterprise firewall and VPN/secure connectivity.
• Experience in virtualised/hybrid infrastructures and English communication.

Job description

We are looking for a Network & Security Engineer to join one of our projects in Portugal. This opportunity is ideal for professionals with solid experience in network infrastructure and operations, particularly within complex and business-critical environments.

You will work closely with infrastructure, security, cloud and operations teams. Together you will contribute to the stability, security and continuous evolution of enterprise network services, covering switching, routing, wireless, firewalls and secure connectivity.

This is a 100% remote role based in Portugal.

Key Responsibilities

Network Operations

• Support the administration, configuration and maintenance of enterprise network environments, including switching, routing and wireless technologies.
• Monitor network performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving connectivity, performance and infrastructure issues.
• Support network infrastructure changes, upgrades, migrations and modernisation initiatives.

Network Security & Connectivity

• Manage and support network security solutions, including firewalls, access policies and secure connectivity.
• Configure, maintain and troubleshoot VPN and remote connectivity solutions.
• Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of network security, monitoring and reliability practices.
• Investigate and resolve network incidents, performing technical analysis and contributing to root cause identification.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, security, cloud and operations teams on network-related topics.
• Work with external technology partners and vendors when required to resolve complex technical issues.

Automation & Documentation

• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency through network automation and scripting.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation, network configurations, procedures and operational knowledge.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Required

• 5+ years of solid, hands-on experience in network engineering or network operations.
• Good knowledge of switching, routing, wireless networking and TCP/IP.
• Experience with enterprise firewall and network security solutions.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting VPN and secure connectivity solutions.
• Good understanding of network monitoring, performance, security and troubleshooting concepts.
• Experience with virtualised and/or hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex network and connectivity issues independently.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure, security, operations and other technical teams.
• Comfortable working in multidisciplinary and international environments.
• Good level of English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with network modernisation, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi environments or network automation.
• Knowledge of scripting and automation technologies such as Python or Ansible.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related area, or equivalent professional experience.
• Relevant networking or security certifications will be valued.

Salary & Benefits

• Gross annual salary: €30,000-€35,000, depending on experience and seniority.
