Job summary

PGI Engineering & Consulting seeks a Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of mechanical systems for mission-critical projects, from early design through to detailed design and construction documentation.

You will collaborate with electrical and plumbing teams, perform calculations and CFD analyses for energy-efficient systems, mentor junior engineers, ensure regulatory compliance, and conduct site inspections and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years in mechanical engineering with 5+ years on mission-critical projects.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for mission-critical projects, including HVAC, cooling and fire protection.
• Collaborate with electrical and plumbing teams to deliver fully integrated MEP solutions.
• Perform calculations, simulations and detailed engineering analyses to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with industry standards.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers to maintain high-quality deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese and international regulations, standards and codes relevant to mission-critical projects.
• Conduct site inspections, commissioning and troubleshooting as required.

We are a team of 200+ professionals specialising in MEP/FP, sustainability, consulting and construction management, with projects across Data Centers, critical infrastructure, commercial buildings, logistics and industrial sectors.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of mechanical systems for mission-critical projects, from the early design stages through to detailed design and construction documentation. You will work on highly complex projects where technical expertise, efficiency, reliability and multidisciplinary coordination are essential to delivering the right solution.

• Lead the design and development of mechanical systems for mission-critical projects, including HVAC, cooling and fire protection.
• Collaborate with electrical and plumbing teams to deliver fully integrated MEP solutions.
• Perform calculations, simulations and detailed engineering analyses to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with industry standards.
• Work closely with clients, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met on time and within budget.
• Oversee and mentor junior engineers to maintain high-quality deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese and international regulations, standards and codes relevant to mission-critical projects.
• Conduct site inspections, commissioning and troubleshooting as required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years’ experience in mechanical engineering, including at least 5 years working on mission-critical projects.
• Proven experience in designing energy-efficient and sustainable MEP systems for critical facilities.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP and simulation tools such as CFD for thermal analysis.
• Excellent project management, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English, both written and spoken.
