Job summary

TechBiz Global GmbH is seeking an experienced on-site System Administrator in Porto to join a dynamic hosting team. You will manage GNU/Linux servers, virtualization environments, and web hosting platforms, ensuring high availability and performance.

The role requires deep knowledge of cPanel/WHM, web server tuning, and mail infrastructure, with automation and cross-platform support becoming key parts of daily tasks. Fluency in English is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Several years of hands-on experience in the web hosting industry in technical support and system administration.
• Advanced proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Windows Server environments (IIS, MSSQL) for cross-platform support.
• Deep understanding of cPanel/WHM, CloudLinux, PHP configuration and shared hosting constraints.
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting HTTP servers (Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed).
• Strong knowledge of web technologies, databases and server debugging at the stack level.
• Solid TCP/IP, DNS and networking fundamentals.
• Excellent communication for escalated tickets and client solutions.
• Nice-to-have: Bash scripting, Python utilities and Ansible for automation.
• Experience with WHMCS backend and integrations.
• Knowledge of high-density server architectures and migration workflows.
• Fluency in English is advantageous for documentation and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain GNU/Linux systems and virtualized/containerized environments (OpenVZ, KVM, Docker).
• Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot control panels (cPanel/WHM, Plesk) in shared hosting.
• Troubleshoot and optimize PHP-based web apps; Node.js/Python stacks are a plus.
• Configure and maintain network firewalls and WAFs (ModSecurity, Imunify360).
• Troubleshoot mail flow; work with Exim, Dovecot, SPF/DKIM/DMARC and external relays.
• Monitor service performance; tune Apache, Nginx, LiteSpeed and databases (MySQL/MariaDB).
• Assist migrations, DR/testing, backups, failovers, and CDN strategies.
