Qualificações

• Law degree (required).
• Postgraduate qualification in Banking/Financial Law or Data Protection valued.
• 5–15 years of legal advisory experience, preferably in financial sector.
• Strong experience in contract negotiations, procurement, ICT contracts and regulatory-driven frameworks.
• Solid knowledge of DORA, GDPR, CRR, BRRD and related prudential requirements.
• Fluency in English is mandatory; Spanish knowledge is an advantage.

Responsabilidades

• Provide legal support across the Bank’s activities, ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including commercial contracts, procurement arrangements and ICT-related contracts.
• Support procurement and outsourcing processes, identifying, assessing and negotiating regulatory requirements.
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal aspects of new products, services and business initiatives, offering practical, legally sound solutions.
• Monitor and interpret regulatory developments impacting the banking sector and implement them within the organization.
• Provide specialist advice on regulatory frameworks including DORA, GDPR, CRR, BRRD.
• Contribute to strengthening governance practices and legal risk management.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to execute strategic projects and negotiations.

The legal function is more than providing advice. It is about enabling business growth, managing regulatory complexity and ensuring that strategic decisions are supported by sound legal frameworks.

We are looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal Department and play a key role in supporting the Bank’s activities, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance while contributing to the successful implementation of business and operational initiatives.

You will act as a trusted legal partner across multiple functions, providing expert guidance on contractual, regulatory and governance matters within an increasingly evolving financial and technological landscape.

Your impact

You will operate at the intersection of business, regulation and risk, contributing to:

• Providing legal support across the Bank’s activities, ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements;
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including commercial contracts, procurement arrangements and ICT-related contracts;
• Supporting procurement and outsourcing processes, identifying, assessing and negotiating regulatory and prudential requirements applicable to financial institutions;
• Advising internal stakeholders on legal aspects relating to new products, services and business initiatives, proposing practical and legally sound solutions;
• Monitoring and interpreting regulatory developments impacting the banking sector, ensuring their effective implementation within the organization;
• Providing specialist advice on regulatory frameworks, including DORA, GDPR, CRR, BRRD and other applicable financial sector regulations;
• Contributing to the strengthening of governance practices and legal risk management across the organization;
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of strategic projects and contractual negotiations.

Perfil

• Law Degree;
• Postgraduate qualification or specialized training in Banking and Financial Law, Data Protection or Financial Regulation will be valued;
• Between 5 and 15 years of professional experience in legal advisory roles, particularly within the financial sector or related environments;
• Solid experience in contract negotiation, procurement processes, ICT contracts and regulatory-driven contractual frameworks;
• Strong knowledge of DORA, GDPR and banking regulations, particularly CRR, BRRD and related prudential requirements;
• Fluency in English (mandatory); knowledge of Spanish will be considered an advantage;
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office tools;
• Strong analytical skills, critical thinking and attention to detail;
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management capabilities;
• High degree of autonomy, professionalism and sound legal judgment.
