Just Vargas seeks a General Counsel assistant to provide legal review and advice across Europe, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations while protecting the company's reputation and business interests. The role focuses on employment matters, contract drafting, procurement compliance, and regulatory oversight.

The candidate will manage corporate records, conduct due diligence, support litigation activities, and train the Contracts team on sales contract matters.

Qualificações

  • Bachelor's Degree in Law.
  • 7–8 years of legal experience including at least 5 years' Bar admission and 7 years in private practice/in-house.
  • Solid experience in Employment Law.
  • Strong service orientation.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.
  • Results-oriented approach.
  • Fluency in Business English (written and spoken).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsabilidades

Assist the General Counsel in providing legal review and advice to the Company to protect its reputation and business interests and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations governing business operations across Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise on employment matters, employee benefits and collective bargaining agreements, ensuring compliance with employment laws, reviewing employment-related documentation and supporting the defence of employment-related claims;
  • Identify and assess legal risks and opportunities within the labour and employment area and provide appropriate legal advice;
  • Review, analyse and draft contracts with national and international suppliers on a variety of matters;
  • Draft, revise and update contract templates in accordance with Procurement requirements, ensuring the protection of the Company's interests and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations;
  • Provide legal support and advice regarding supplier contracts and regulatory compliance matters within the Company's procurement function;
  • Verify contracts and review documentation received from the Sales team to ensure corporate and individual compliance by the Company's clients (e.g., confirming legal representatives and conducting due diligence and reputational risk assessments), and liaise with the Sales team to obtain additional information required for final contract approval;
  • Assist the Contracts team in reviewing sales contracts and letters of confirmation, amending sales contracts in accordance with relevant sales requests and internal approvals, and drafting complex wording for letters of confirmation;
  • Provide training to the Contracts team on all legal matters related to sales contracts. Ensure that the team understands and complies with all legal requirements relating to the issuance of sales contracts;
  • Manage and maintain aircraft registration records and related information with the Portuguese Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), including aircraft registration and deregistration, registration and deregistration of ownership transfers, and aircraft disposal;
  • Manage and maintain all certificates required for the Company's business operations, including Aircraft Operator Certificate requirements before ANAC and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA);
  • Prepare information on legislation applicable to the various areas in which the Company operates and conduct training sessions aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of compliance obligations and legal requirements;
  • Conduct litigation-related activities, including negotiation, legal drafting, oral advocacy and legal counselling;
  • Create and maintain corporate records, legal databases, reference manuals and resource materials;
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships based on credibility and trust with clients, stakeholders, legal team members and other functional areas of the Company;
  • Conduct regulatory research and provide legal analysis as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Law;
  • 7–8 years of legal experience, including a minimum of 5 years' admission to the Bar and at least 7 years of experience gained in private practice and/or an in-house legal environment (in-house experience preferred);
  • Solid experience in Employment Law;
  • Strong service orientation;
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn;
  • Adaptability and flexibility;
  • Results-oriented approach;
  • Fluency in Business English, both written and spoken;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
