About the Role

Within KLx, you will join the Payment Services team of over 100 talented professionals in Lisbon, focused on developing and delivering payment products and services related to payment transactions (SDD and SCT), as well as card payment instruments (debit/credit cards and mobile payments). Dedicated to constant improvement, working through Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and on recent technology stacks (Java, Angular, Kafka,…), they ensure that our Group partner’s payment solutions are innovative, robust and secure.

We are seeking a Software Architect / Tech Lead to provide strong expertise in software architecture, engineering practices, and the definition and audit of architecture standards across all CAPS Information System applications.

Within the TPS/SMT/CIT team, and in close collaboration with the Software Design Authority, you will play a key role in defining architectural guidelines, ensuring engineering excellence, and supporting development teams in delivering robust, scalable, and high‑quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Define Software Architecture Standards

• Develop, formalize, and maintain enterprise-wide software architecture standards.
• Ensure alignment of technology choices with business and IT strategy.
• Document best practices, reference models, and architectural patterns.

2. Define Software Engineering Standards

• Establish development processes, methodologies, and quality frameworks.
• Ensure code quality, maintainability, and compliance with engineering standards.
• Promote the adoption of modern development tools, practices, and automation.
• Collaborate with project managers to assess development plans and technical approaches.
• Verify adherence to established architecture and engineering standards.
• Provide guidance, recommendations, and technical coaching to development teams to optimize solutions.

4. Technology Watch & Innovation

• Maintain continuous awareness of emerging technologies, tools, and industry trends.
• Identify and propose relevant innovations to enhance the CAPS application landscape.

Who you are

• Graduated in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related field,
• Fluent in French and English (mandatory),
• At least 6 years of experience in Java back-end development and Java framework (Spring, Hibernate, JavaEE, Maven),
• Good knowledge in other languages C#, Python and front-end frameworks (Angular, React, VueJS),
• Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycles, DevOps practices, and CI/CD tools (GitLab, Docker, Sonar, Jenkins),
• Relevant knowledge of database management systems SQL/NoSQL (Oracle, SQLServer, MongoDB…),
• Solid experience with Clean Code and Clean Architecture principles as well as common software design patterns.
• Functional knowledge of electronic banking (plus),
• Good analytical and problem-solving capabilities,
• Leadership, team spirit, communication skills,
