Job summary

Capgemini Engineering in Portugal is seeking an experienced Java Full-Stack Developer to join our software team. You will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade applications across backend and frontend layers, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

You will work with Java 21, Spring Boot, Angular/React/Vaadin, REST APIs, and PostgreSQL, following best practices and modern architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong backend with Java & Spring Boot and modern frontend experience.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Maven multi-module projects and healthcare/regulated domains (Nice to Have).

YOUR ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Java Full-Stack Developer to join our growing software engineering team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise-grade applications, working across both backend and frontend layers. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions while following software development best practices and modern architectural principles.

What You Can Expect In The Role

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java and Spring Boot.


• Develop modern and responsive frontend applications using technologies such as Angular, React, Vue.js, or Vaadin.


• Design, implement, and consume RESTful APIs.


• Collaborate with architects, developers, testers, and product stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.


• Work with PostgreSQL and other relational databases to ensure efficient and reliable data management.


• Apply software engineering best practices, including clean code principles, testing, and code reviews.


• Contribute to application architecture discussions and technical decision-making.


• Participate in troubleshooting, performance optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.


• Support the modernization and evolution of existing applications and platforms.

YOUR PROFILE

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.


• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.


• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.


• Strong frontend development experience with Angular, React, Vue.js, Vaadin, or similar modern frameworks.


• Experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs.


• Solid experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.


• Good understanding of enterprise application architectures, design patterns, and software development best practices.


• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.


• Ability to work effectively in collaborative and international environments.


• Experience with Java 21 and/or Java migration projects. (Nice to Have)


• Experience developing applications with Vaadin. (Nice to Have)


• Knowledge of Flyway, RabbitMQ, and Redis. (Nice to Have)


• Experience working with Maven multi-module applications. (Nice to Have)


• Previous experience in healthcare or other highly regulated and complex enterprise environments. (Nice to Have)
