Job summary

Mobilunity is partnering with Opportuland to recruit a Team Lead Java Engineer for a high-growth nonprofit platform focused on healthcare access in Africa. The role involves leading a JVM backend team, delivering scalable features, and ensuring security and data protection across services.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in backend engineering, 2+ years of leadership, strong Java and Spring expertise, and hands-on AWS experience.

Qualifications

8+ years of backend engineering experience focused on JVM languages.
2+ years of formal leadership experience managing a Java backend team.
Strong hands-on experience with Java and the Spring framework.
Extensive experience with microservices architecture.
Hands-on experience with AWS.
Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
Excellent English communication skills.
Based in Portugal or willing to relocate to Portalegre area.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the individuals within the software engineering team.
Coordinate engineering work and ensure priorities and deliverables are managed effectively.
Conduct team performance reviews and support professional development.
Foster a collaborative environment focused on quality and learning.
Develop and maintain backend features for the platform.
