Costaterra Golf & Ocean Club in Comporta, Portugal, seeks an Irrigation Technician to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair the golf course irrigation and drainage systems, ensuring optimal turf health and presentation.

You will monitor water usage, perform preventive maintenance, keep records, support pump stations, and collaborate with the Golf Course Maintenance team to uphold conservation and environmental standards.

Qualificações

• Irrigation certification required.
• Attention to detail and safe lifting up to 25 kg.
• Minimum 2 years of golf course irrigation experience.
• Knowledge of irrigation systems, components, and turf care.

Responsabilidades

• Operate, monitor, and maintain the golf course irrigation system.
• Troubleshoot and repair irrigation heads, valves, pipes, controllers, and pumps.
• Monitor daily water usage and adjust irrigation based on weather and turf needs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on irrigation equipment and pump stations.
• Keep accurate irrigation records and assist with pump station maintenance.
• Support irrigation parts inventory and keep the parts room organized.
• Operate heads manually where watering is needed and assist with fertilization applications.

What you will do?

The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the golf course irrigation and drainage systems. This position helps ensure optimal turf health through effective water management while supporting the overall conditioning and presentation of the golf course.

Essential Functions:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain the golf course irrigation system.
• Troubleshoot and repair irrigation heads, valves, pipe, wiring, controllers, pumps, and related components.
• Monitor daily water usage and recommend irrigation adjustments based on weather conditions and turf needs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on irrigation equipment and pump stations.
• Maintain accurate irrigation records, including rainfall, water usage, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Assist with pump station operation, maintenance, and repairs.
• Maintain an organized inventory of irrigation parts and supplies.
• Keep the irrigation parts room clean, organized, and fully stocked.
• Operate irrigation heads manually in areas requiring supplemental watering.
• Assist with watering-in fertilizers and plant protectants under the direction of licensed staff.
• Operate golf course maintenance equipment, utility vehicles, and light construction equipment as needed.
• Assist with special golf course projects and course improvements.
• Support the Golf Course Maintenance team with additional responsibilities as assigned.

What are we looking for?

• Possess a irrigation certification.
• Attention to detail.
• Able to lift 25kg.
• Thorough knowledge of the proper care and upkeep of golf course.
• Able to work as part of a team or individually.
• A concern for the environment and understanding of conservation issues, complying with all sustainable and environmental standards as set out by CostaTerra.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working on golf course irrigation systems.
  Demonstrate mechanical knowledge with experience working on irrigation systems or similar equipment
  Familiarity with commercial landscaping, lawn care, and general horticulture practices.
  Strong problem solving skills with a proactive approach to trouble shooting mechanical or system issues.
