Job summary

The Lakhani Group is opening L Hotel Fátima, and, as Head of Maintenance, you will lead pre-opening snagging, set up preventive maintenance, and manage contractors to keep all systems safe and running. Day shift with on-call rota and reporting to Hotel Manager.

You will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, handle budgeting, and oversee maintenance staff, while coordinating with Front Office and Housekeeping during the hotel pre-opening phase.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years in building or hotel maintenance, leading technical work.
• Technical training in electrical, mechanical or building maintenance; electrician certification is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of Portuguese health, safety and fire regulations.

Responsibilities

• Run pre-opening snagging and handover checks on rooms, public areas and technical systems.
• Set up and deliver a preventive maintenance plan for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, hot water, lifts and kitchen equipment.
• Respond quickly to repair requests from Front Office and Housekeeping.
• Manage external contractors and service contracts (lifts, fire systems, HVAC, pest control).
• Keep fire safety, emergency lighting, legionella and other legal inspections up to date.
• Control the maintenance budget, spare parts and purchasing.
• Supervise the Porter / General Assistant on minor maintenance tasks.

About L Hotel Fátima: The Lakhani Group (TLG) is opening L Hotel Fátima on 12 October 2026, and we are building our founding team.

The Head of Maintenance keeps the building, rooms and technical systems safe and working. As a pre-opening hire, you will complete the snag list, set up preventive maintenance and manage contractors. Day shift with on-call rota. Reports to: Hotel Manager.

Key responsibilities:

• Run pre-opening snagging and handover checks on rooms, public areas and technical systems
• Set up and deliver a preventive maintenance plan for electrical, plumbing, HVAC, hot water, lifts and kitchen equipment
• Respond quickly to repair requests from Front Office and Housekeeping
• Manage external contractors and service contracts (lifts, fire systems, HVAC, pest control)
• Keep fire safety, emergency lighting, legionella and other legal inspections up to date
• Control the maintenance budget, spare parts and purchasing
• Supervise the Porter / General Assistant on minor maintenance tasks

Applications are reviewed daily and interviews run on a rolling basis until positions are filled.

Requirements

• At least 3 years in building or hotel maintenance, leading technical work
• Technical training in electrical, mechanical or building maintenance (electrician certification a strong plus)
• Working knowledge of Portuguese health, safety and fire regulations
• Portuguese required;
  basic English an advantage
• Practical problem-solver, available for an on-call rota
• Driving licence (Category B)

Nice to have: hotel pre-opening experience;
HVAC or refrigeration certification
