Job summary

The Lakhani Group is opening L Hotel Fátima and seeking a Maintenance Helper to support the Head of Maintenance. This hands‑on, day‑shift role involves fixing items in rooms and public areas, with on‑the‑job training and a focus on safety. You will join a brand‑new hotel team from day one.

Experience in maintenance or handyman work is valued; basic electrical, plumbing or carpentry knowledge helps. Portuguese is basic; more languages are welcome. Weekends and holidays require availability.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance or handyman work; training provided.
• Basic knowledge of electrics, plumbing or carpentry.
• Basic Portuguese; other languages welcome.
• Physically fit, practical and reliable.
• Available for rotating shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Nice to have: vocational certificate in electrical or mechanical work; driving licence (Category B).

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine repairs in guest rooms and public areas (lights, fittings, furniture, doors, taps and drains)
• Assist the Head of Maintenance with preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing or HVAC and kitchen equipment
• Respond to repair requests from Front Office and Housekeeping and report back when done
• Help with pre-opening snagging, room set-up and moving furniture and equipment
• Do minor painting, touch-ups and outdoor upkeep
• Keep tools, the workshop and spare parts tidy and report stock needs
• Accompany and support external contractors on site
• Follow health, safety and fire procedures at all times

About L Hotel Fátima: The Lakhani Group (TLG) is opening L Hotel Fátima on 12 October 2026, and we are building our founding team.

The Maintenance Helper supports the Head of Maintenance in keeping rooms, public areas and technical systems in good working order. It is a practical, hands-on role with on-the-job training, suited to someone who enjoys fixing things. Day shift, rotating, including weekends. Reports to: Head of Maintenance.

Key responsibilities:

• Carry out routine repairs in guest rooms and public areas (lights, fittings, furniture, doors, taps and drains)
• Assist the Head of Maintenance with preventive maintenance on electrical, plumbing, HVAC and kitchen equipment
• Respond to repair requests from Front Office and Housekeeping and report back when done
• Help with pre-opening snagging, room set-up and moving furniture and equipment
• Do minor painting, touch-ups and outdoor upkeep

Applications are reviewed daily and interviews run on a rolling basis until positions are filled.
