Job summary

ALTEN is looking for a Material Procurement Specialist in Porto to drive supply chain excellence through effective purchasing, supplier management, and inventory control. You will coordinate with production teams to ensure material availability and optimize costs while maintaining quality and delivery performance.

This role requires at least 3 years in procurement, strong negotiation and ERP skills, and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Logistics, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Material Planning.
Experience purchasing mechanical components, mechanical parts, raw materials, or related industrial materials.
Experience with suppliers in industrial/manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of procurement processes and supplier management.
Experience with purchase orders and procurement documentation; understanding of inventory management and MRP.
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proactive attitude and continuous improvement mindset.
Professional level of English.

Responsibilities

Manage the procurement process to ensure timely availability of materials for production and operations.
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment with suppliers.
Create, manage, and follow up on purchase orders.
Maintain relationships with suppliers and support supplier performance management.
Negotiate purchasing conditions, delivery schedules, and lead times.
Collaborate with Planning, Logistics, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to ensure material availability.
Monitor supplier delivery performance and address supply-related issues.
Support cost optimization initiatives while ensuring quality and service requirements.
Identify supply risks and contribute to mitigation and contingency plans.
Ensure accurate procurement data and documentation within ERP systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain processes.
