Job summary

ALTEN in Portugal is seeking a Senior Manager Project Purchasing to lead procurement activities for NPIs, industrialization programs, and product launches, partnering with engineering and operations to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing. You will manage RFQs, analyse supplier proposals, negotiate terms, and develop sourcing strategies that align with project goals and profitability.

The role requires 5+ years in procurement, leadership experience, and a track record in electronics/high-tech

• Experience in Electronics Manufacturing or high-tech industries.
• Proven track record leading NPI and launch activities.
• At least 3 years of team leadership experience.

Responsibilities

Senior Manager Project Purchasing – Drive Procurement Excellence with ALTEN!

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all procurement activities related to New Product Introduction (NPI), industrialization programs, and product launches.
• Manage supplier quotation processes (RFQs), ensuring timely, competitive, and accurate responses.
• Analyze supplier proposals, cost structures, and sourcing feasibility to support business profitability.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, Finance, and Program Management teams to ensure project success.
• Negotiate commercial conditions with suppliers while achieving cost and performance objectives.
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with project and business goals.
• Ensure supplier readiness, material availability, and supply chain robustness throughout project execution.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks to protect customer commitments and project milestones.
• Lead the transition from quotation phase to serial production and successful product launches.
• Drive continuous improvement across project procurement processes, governance, and tools.
• Lead, coach, and develop high-performing Project Purchasing teams.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers, and key internal stakeholders.

What we're looking for?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Business Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related functions.
• Experience within Electronics Manufacturing, Automotive, Industrial Electronics, EMS, or other high-tech industries.
• Proven experience managing NPI, industrialization projects, and product launch activities.
• At least 3 years of experience leading and developing teams.
• Strong knowledge of supplier management, strategic sourcing, and procurement best practices.
• Experience with RFQs, supplier negotiations, cost analysis, and business case evaluation.
• Understanding of electronic components, manufacturing technologies, and supply chain dynamics.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
• Excellent problem-solving capabilities and resilience in complex environments.
• Commercial mindset combined with a strong focus on operational excellence.
• Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution and decision‑making.
