Job summary

ALTEN Portugal, a leading force in IT, Engineering and Life Sciences, seeks a dedicated Procurement Technician with hands-on SAP experience to support direct OPEX and operational procurement. You will handle supplier negotiations, PR/PO management, RFQs, material approvals, and contract renewals in an international environment.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance and QA, ensuring compliant procurement operations with meticulous documentation and timely transactions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of direct experience in procurement or strategic sourcing roles.
• Hands-on experience with SAP ERP systems for procurement transactions (e.g., PO creation, master data).
• Experience managing direct OPEX categories (MRO, services, or similar).
• End-to-end procurement process knowledge from sourcing to payment.
• Experience developing sourcing strategies, running RFQ/RFP processes, and supplier negotiations.
• Full professional proficiency in English for an international environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to technical details and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams without direct leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Execute operational procurement transitions within SAP.
• Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for various categories.
• Manage end-to-end RFQ/RFP processes.
• Negotiate and finalize supplier agreements.
• Process a high volume of POs in SAP and resolve PO vs. invoice discrepancies.
• Submit and manage supplier creation requests in the system.
• Lead RFQ processes for existing suppliers.
• Negotiate key commercial terms including price, payment terms, and delivery conditions.
• Manage contract renewals and negotiations.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance and QA to ensure alignment.
• Communicate effectively in English in an international environment.

As a Procuremen technician, you will play a critical role in sourcing/procurement, focusing on direct OPEX and operational activities, handling supplier negotiations, PR/PO management, RFQs, material approvals, and contract renewals, with solid experience using SAP.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute operational procurement transitions within SAP to enhance relevance and efficiency.
• Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies for various categories.
• Manage the end-to-end competitive bidding process (RFQ/RFP).
• Negotiate and finalize legal agreements with suppliers.
• Process a high volume of transactions by issuing Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP.
• Review and resolve discrepancies between supplier invoices and issued POs.
• Submit and manage requests for the creation of new suppliers in the system.
• Lead Request for Quotation (RFQ) processes for existing suppliers.
• Negotiate key commercial terms including price, payment terms, and delivery conditions.
• Manage contract renewals and negotiations.
• Collaborate effectively with key internal stakeholders, primarily Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance (QA).
• Use of strong English communication skills in an international work environment.
• Demonstrate proactive initiative and a consistent focus on achieving results.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of direct experience in procurement or strategic sourcing roles.
• Proven hands-on experience with SAP ERP systems, specifically for procurement transactions (e.g., PO creation, master data management).
• Demonstrated experience in managing direct OPEX (Operational Expenditure) categories, such as MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations), services, or similar.
• Solid understanding of the end-to-end procurement process, from sourcing to payment.
• Experience in developing sourcing strategies, running competitive bids (RFQ/RFP), and conducting supplier negotiations.
• Full professional proficiency in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills for an international environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to technical details and documentation accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and collaborate on technical reviews without direct leadership responsibilities.
