Job summary

Beko Europe is seeking a Finance Manager in Portugal to lead the full accounting cycle, ensure IFRS compliance, and drive strategic financial planning. You will partner with commercial, operations, and HR teams to optimize performance and governance.

The role requires 5–8 years in finance, strong Portuguese tax knowledge, and fluency in Portuguese and English. You will manage a 4-person finance team and report into regional leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Professional qualification (CPA/ACCA/Chartered Accountant or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
• Experience leading finance teams in multinational/matrix environments.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting, tax and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge (SAP/Oracle/Microsoft Dynamics or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent reporting capabilities.
• Leadership and people management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English.

Responsibilities

• Oversee full accounting cycle and monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
• Prepare financial statements per Portuguese standards, IFRS and policies.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities.
• Monitor performance and provide insights on trends and variances.
• Ensure balance sheet integrity and reconcile key accounts.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, analyses, and business cases.
• Provide financial guidance on strategic initiatives and investments.
• Support audits and improve internal controls; coach a team of 4.

Job description

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations in Portugal, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with local regulations, effective financial planning, and strong internal controls. The role acts as a strategic business partner to support decision-making, drive performance, and contribute to the achievement of business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle, ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with Portuguese accounting standards, IFRS, and corporate policies.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Monitor financial performance and provide insights on key business trends and variances.
• Ensure balance sheet integrity and reconciliation of key accounts.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

• Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
• Prepare financial analyses, business cases, and profitability assessments.
• Monitor actual results against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Provide recommendations to improve financial performance and cost efficiency.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Ensure compliance with Portuguese tax, accounting, and statutory requirements.
• Coordinate corporate tax, VAT, and other regulatory filings.
• Maintain and improve internal control processes and financial governance.
• Support internal and external audits and follow up on audit recommendations.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

• Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and working capital performance.
• Manage banking relationships and treasury activities.
• Ensure effective credit control and payment processes.

Business Partnering

• Partner with commercial, operations, supply chain, and HR teams to support business decisions.
• Provide financial guidance to management on strategic initiatives and investments.
• Participate in business reviews and management meetings.
• Lead, coach, and develop the finance team (4 people)
• Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
• Allocate resources effectively and ensure team objectives are achieved.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional qualification (CPA, ACCA, Chartered Accountant, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Minimum 5-8 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles.
• Previous experience leading finance teams.
• Strong knowledge of Portuguese accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience in multinational and matrix organizations is highly desirable.
• Advanced Excel and ERP system knowledge (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent financial planning and reporting capabilities.
• Leadership and people management skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
