Job summary

Moniepoint Group Portugal is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead delivery across cross-functional teams in Portugal. You will translate product requirements into actionable EPICs and backlogs, collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers, and drive sprint planning and delivery with a focus on quality and predictability.

You will maintain high technical standards, guide architectural decisions, and ensure robust monitoring and observability across all owned services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8–10 years of experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer, or in a similar hands-on technical role.
• Minimum 3 years of proven engineering leadership experience managing high-performing teams.
• Strong grasp of Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and iterative delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery and execution across cross-functional teams within your product area, ensuring predictable and high-quality outcomes.
• Evaluate business and product requirements for technical feasibility and architectural alignment, translating them into EPICs and technical user stories.
• Partner closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Engineers to refine, groom, and prioritize the backlog.
• Plan and drive sprint execution with defined goals, establishing timelines and milestones.
• Champion engineering processes and rituals that enable collaboration and efficiency.
• Monitor team velocity and capacity to optimize resource allocation and balance delivery commitments.
• Coordinate cross-team dependencies and stakeholder alignment to remove bottlenecks.
• Stay hands-on in critical initiatives by guiding design decisions and conducting code reviews.
• Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, and observability for all owned services with defined SLIs/SLOs.
• Partner with Product Managers to track post-release metrics for continuous improvement.
