About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer with extensive SAP BusinessObjects expertise and practical Linux knowledge to join a Business Intelligence team in Lisbon. You will be a key technical reference responsible for consolidating and strengthening SAP BusinessObjects knowledge within the team. Your responsibilities will include creating and evolving SAP BO Universes, managing user groups and restrictions, coordinating platform upgrades and migrating Universes between versions and environments. You will also design data schemas and high-performance pipelines, manage database-related activities, automate releases, perform data migrations, monitor performance and troubleshoot complex data-infrastructure issues. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior professional who combines SAP BusinessObjects expertise, Data Engineering, database management, Linux and release automation skills.

SAP BusinessObjects

• Act as a senior technical reference for SAP BusinessObjects within the BI team.
• Create, maintain and evolve SAP BO Universes.
• Translate complex business and reporting requirements into effective Universe designs.
• Define objects, dimensions, measures, hierarchies, joins and contexts.
• Optimize Universes for performance, usability, scalability and maintainability.
• Implement and maintain SAP BO user groups, roles and access restrictions.
• Manage security and authorization rules across reporting environments.
• Support SAP BusinessObjects platform administration activities.
• Plan and coordinate SAP BO version upgrades.
• Lead or support SAP BO Universe migrations.
• Validate reports, Universes and security configurations after upgrades or migrations.
• Troubleshoot complex SAP BO performance, connectivity and access issues.

Data Engineering and Modelling

• Design logical and physical data schemas.

Database Management

• Work with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and Teradata.

• Troubleshoot data-quality, connectivity and performance problems.Support schema changes and database releases.

Linux and Data Infrastructure

• Work with Linux environments supporting data and BI platforms.

• Contribute to environment configuration and release activities.

Release Management and Automation

• Manage the release of data and BI artifacts across multiple environments.
• Automate end-to-end deployment and release processes.
• Coordinate migrations between development, testing and production.
• Validate deployed artifacts and confirm successful releases.
• Maintain release documentation, dependencies and rollback procedures.
• Use Python to support automation, data processing and operational activities.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual activities and deployment risks.
• Contribute to continuous improvements in release quality and reliability.

Analytics and Data Visualization

• Support Business Intelligence and data-visualization activities.
• Work with Power BI, Alteryx, Dataiku or similar analytics tools.
• Combine data from different sources to support reporting and analysis.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand information needs.
• Ensure that analytical products use reliable and well-governed data.
• Support data preparation, blending and transformation activities.
• Advise teams on suitable data and visualization approaches.

• Senior-level professional experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence or a similar position.
• Strong hands-on expertise in SAP BusinessObjects.

You understand how Universe design, databases, data pipelines, Linux infrastructure and reporting requirements interact within an enterprise BI environment. You have strong experience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or Teradata and can investigate complex performance, connectivity and data‑quality issues. You also possess Python knowledge and can contribute to release automation, data processing and operational activities.
