Qualifications

• Experience in customs clearance / brokerage.
• Knowledge of Portuguese and EU customs procedures and regulations.
• Experience preparing and processing customs declarations.
• Good understanding of import/export documentation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import and export customs declarations.
• Handle customs clearance procedures from documentation through to final release of goods.
• Check commercial invoices, packing lists, transport documents and other customs documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese and EU customs legislation.
• Communicate with customs authorities and other relevant government bodies.
• Coordinate with customers, carriers, freight forwarders and internal departments.
• Monitor customs clearance processes and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
• Calculate and verify customs duties, VAT and other applicable charges.
• Maintain accurate customs records and documentation.

Job description

Our client, an international freight forwarding and logistics company with branches in 25 european countries, is now looking for an experienced Customs clearance specialist (licensed/non-licensed) to join their office in Lisboa. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing customs clearance procedures and ensuring that import and export shipments comply with Portuguese and EU customs regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit import and export customs declarations
• Handle customs clearance procedures from documentation through to final release of goods
• Check commercial invoices, packing lists, transport documents and other customs documentation
• Ensure compliance with Portuguese and EU customs legislation
• Communicate with customs authorities and other relevant government bodies
• Coordinate with customers, carriers, freight forwarders and internal departments
• Monitor customs clearance processes and resolve any issues or discrepancies
• Calculate and verify customs duties, VAT and other applicable charges
• Maintain accurate customs records and documentation

Requirements

• Previous experience in customs clearance / customs brokerage, ideally within freight forwarding or logistics
• Good knowledge of Portuguese and EU customs procedures and regulations
• Experience preparing and processing customs declarations
• Good understanding of import/export documentation
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good organisational and time-management skills
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Portuguese – fluent, English – good working level
• Experience with customs software / electronic customs systems is an advantage
