Volkswagen Financial Services Portugal is seeking a Controlling Senior Specialist to drive financial transparency and performance. You will partner with management to deliver insights, model pricing and strategic initiatives, and continuously improve controlling processes.

Key responsibilities include monthly close, budgeting, forecasting and KPI analysis, with emphasis on data-driven decision making and cross-functional collaboration across international teams.

Qualificações

• Minimum 5 years in Controlling or Financial Analysis.
• Experience in international environments is a strong advantage.
• Advanced Excel, data modelling and BI familiarity required.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English is necessary.

Responsabilidades

• Perform the monthly closing and reporting cycle (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and long-term planning processes.
• Monitor performance, identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Develop financial models to support pricing decisions and initiatives.
• Analyze revenues, costs, margins, and KPIs; translate data into insights.
• Act as a financial advisor to internal departments.
• Support data extraction and analysis from large datasets.
• Build and maintain management reports and dashboards; promote automation.
• Ensure compliance with Group standards and reporting requirements.
• Participate in cross-functional initiatives and process improvements.

Objectives

The Controlling Senior Specialist plays a key role in driving financial transparency and performance across the organization. Acting as a trusted business partner, this role supports management decision‑making through advanced financial analysis, planning, reporting and data‑driven insights, while continuously improving controlling processes and analytical tools.

In this role you will be responsible for

• Performing the monthly financial closing and reporting cycle, ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely delivery of management information (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
• Actively contribute to budgeting, forecasting and long‑term planning processes, including scenario, variance and sensitivity analysis.
• Monitor and analyze business performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities, and proactively recommending corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain financial models and business cases to support pricing decisions, new products and strategic initiatives.
• Analyze revenues, costs, margins, overheads and key performance indicators (KPIs), translating complex data into clear and actionable insights.
• Act as a financial advisor and business partner to internal departments, supporting operational and strategic decision‑making.
• Support data extraction and analysis from large datasets, ensuring reliability and consistency of financial information.
• Build, maintain and continuously improve management reports and dashboards, promoting automation and efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with Group standards, policies and reporting requirements, maintaining close interaction with headquarters.
• Participate in cross‑functional initiatives and ad‑hoc projects related to performance optimization and process improvement.

We believe that the right profile for this job should have / be

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Controlling, Financial Analysis or Business Intelligence, preferably in an international environment.
• Experience in financial services, banking and/or automotive sector is considered a strong advantage.
• Solid understanding of management accounting, financial controlling and performance management.
• Advanced Excel proficiency (advanced formulas, pivot tables, data modelling).
• Experience with SQL for querying and extracting data from large databases is a strong plus.
• Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for building interactive dashboards and reports.
• Strong data‑handling capabilities, with the ability to manage large and complex datasets.
• High attention to detail combined with a strong business‑oriented mindset.
• University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or similar.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a solution‑oriented mindset.
• Ability to question existing processes and propose optimised, data‑driven solutions.
• Structured and organized, even in a fast‑paced and agile environment.
• Comfortable working independently, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Clear communicator, able to translate financial data into messages understandable to non‑financial stakeholders.
• Team‑oriented, proactive and resilient under pressure.
