iTRTech Group in Portugal is seeking a senior Connectivity & Network Engineer for a remote position. You will troubleshoot and design transport and mobile backhaul networks, covering legacy and cloud-native environments.

The role requires 5+ years in transport network engineering, strong routing knowledge (OSPF/IS-IS/BGP/MPLS), experience with HLD/LLD, and familiarity with major vendors. English and Portuguese required; compensation range €5500–€5800 gross monthly.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Connectivity & Network Engineer to support transport and mobile access networks. The role covers troubleshooting, network design, routing, resilience, and enhancements across legacy and cloud-based environments, with occasional support for mobile access optimization.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot complex transport network issues and resolve incidents.
• Design and implement network enhancements, routing configurations, redundancy, and high-availability solutions.
• Produce and review High-Level Designs (HLD) and Low-Level Designs (LLD) for BTS backhaul, IP/MPLS, legacy, and cloud-native transport networks.
• Assess network performance, scalability, and reliability, supporting upgrades, expansions, and transformation projects.
• Collaborate with RAN, Core, IP, and Operations teams, supporting customer requests, technical workshops, and documentation.
• Provide occasional support for performance analysis and troubleshooting across 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile access networks.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in transport network engineering and support.
• Strong knowledge of IP networking, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, and transmission technologies.
• Experience with transport redundancy, resiliency mechanisms, and structured network troubleshooting.
• Practical experience producing HLD/LLD documentation and supporting BTS integration and mobile backhaul.
• Experience with cloud-based networking and virtualized transport architectures.
• Familiarity with telecom vendors such as Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Cisco, or Juniper.
• Desired: RAN experience across 2G/3G/4G/5G, KPI analysis, mobility management, integration, and parameter optimization.
• Preferred: Relevant degree; CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP, Nokia NRS, or equivalent certifications; experience with telecom operators or managed services.

An experienced network engineer with strong troubleshooting skills who can translate technical requirements into reliable transport solutions. Comfortable collaborating across engineering teams and communicating directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
