Experimental Porto is seeking a Commis to join its contemporary European kitchen team. You will prepare mise en place, assist with recipes, and ensure consistent quality while respecting hygiene and safety standards.

The role requires passion for gastronomy, strong organization, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays. Portuguese communication is essential, with English as a bonus.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Commis or similar role.
• Good knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
• Passionate about gastronomy and able to follow work procedures and technical sheets.
• Strong organizational skills with emphasis on hygiene regulations.
• Portuguese language fluent; English a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary ingredients and mise en place.
• Prepare recipes according to technical sheets.
• Prepare dishes per menu and customer requests.
• Check preparations by tasting and adjusting as needed.
• Store food products per procedures and inventory.
• Assist with stock organization and communicate shortages.
• Receive and inspect deliveries for quality and quantity.
• Apply hygiene and safety regulations in all tasks.
• Wear professional attire in line with hygiene rules.
