Job summary

DataSmart is seeking a Cloud Automation Developer to design, build, and maintain Terraform modules and automation for Azure in a hybrid Lisbon setting. You will develop backend services, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring secure, governed cloud solutions and scalable automation across environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in cloud environments.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and secure, governed cloud solutions.
• Proficient with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code modules.
• Experience with Java and Spring for backend integration.
• Hands-on with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar.
• Knowledge of cloud security, IAM, governance, and secrets management.
• Experience integrating APIs across Azure, GitHub, ServiceNow, and identity services.
• Scripting with PowerShell or comparable language for automation.

What You'll Do:

• Design, develop, and maintain reusable Terraform modules, Infrastructure as Code templates, and automation workflows for Azure resource provisioning and lifecycle management.
• Build full-stack self-service applications, backend services, and REST APIs that simplify cloud consumption and automate recurring operational tasks.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to validate, test, package, and deploy infrastructure and application changes across environments.
• Integrate Azure services with GitHub, ServiceNow, identity platforms, and other enterprise systems.
• Implement cloud security and governance capabilities, including identity and access management, policy enforcement, secrets management, and auditability.
• Develop automated functional, regression, and deployment tests for applications, APIs, infrastructure modules, and cloud services.
• Support and improve automation for data processing and analytics services, ensuring reliability, performance, security, and operational efficiency.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and documentation to ensure production readiness and maintainability.
• Collaborate with platform engineers, architects, and application teams to promote reusable solutions, improve developer experience, and reduce operational complexity.
• Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve cloud automation products and platform capabilities.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience, including experience working in an international company environment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and public-cloud architecture, including the design and implementation of secure, governed cloud solutions.
• Solid experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, including reusable modules, automated provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
• Experience with Java and Spring for backend development and service integration.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, using GitHub Actions or equivalent tools.
• Knowledge of cloud security, identity and access management, governance, policy enforcement, and secrets management.
• Experience integrating APIs and platforms across Azure, GitHub, ServiceNow, and identity services.
• Proficiency in PowerShell or equivalent scripting languages for operational automation and cloud service integration.
• Experience implementing automated testing for applications, APIs, infrastructure, and cloud services.
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, alerting, troubleshooting, and production operations.
• Experience supporting data processing and analytics services, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and IoT Hub.
• Knowledge of Azure storage and databases, including Data Lake Storage Gen2, Storage Accounts, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, and SQL Server.
• Familiarity with additional Azure services such as Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, AI Foundry, AKS, API Management, App Service, Logic Apps, Application Insights, and Log Analytics.
• Understanding of containerized workloads and Kubernetes, particularly Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design maintainable solutions and work effectively with international, multidisciplinary teams.
• English proficiency at C1 level or higher, both written and spoken.
• Availability to work in a hybrid model in Lisbon.
