Job summary

DataSmart is seeking an Azure Engineer to join our hybrid Lisbon team. You will design and manage cloud infrastructure via Terraform, deploy CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, Git, and GitHub Actions, and ensure secure, observable operations across Linux and Windows environments.

The role emphasizes collaboration with international teams, including France, strong English communication, and hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, and security best practices.

Qualifications

• Senior-level expertise in Terraform and IaC for automated infra deployments.
• Strong Git, CI/CD pipelines, and experience with GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
• 4–5+ years of Azure cloud services experience including Storage, Data Factory/Synapse, SQL, ML, cost mgmt.
• Experience with Databricks, Synapse, Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs/Grid, IoT Hub.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex production incidents using Datadog and monitoring tools.
• Scripting skills in Python or Bash; Linux and Windows Server administration.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support for data processing and analytics, improving reliability and security.
• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure with Terraform and IaC practices.
• Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, and GitHub Actions.
• Automate provisioning, deployments, and workflows to ensure repeatable delivery.
• Troubleshoot incidents across Level 2/3 with monitoring tools like Datadog and Azure Monitor.
• Support Azure data services: Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, IoT Hub.
• Assist with storage/databases: Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL, SQL Server.
• Apply security best practices including SSL certs and network isolation.
• Collaborate with international teams (France) to coordinate activities.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide operational support for data processing and analytics services, continuously improving their reliability, performance, security, and efficiency.
• Design, deploy, and maintain cloud infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
• Develop, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Git, and GitHub Actions.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, deployments, and operational workflows to ensure secure, repeatable, and reliable delivery.
• Manage and resolve complex Level 2 and Level 3 incidents using monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and Azure Monitor.
• Automate standard cloud requests, including cloud account provisioning, service principal management, and SSL certificate renewals.
• Support and maintain Azure data processing and analytics services, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Azure Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and IoT Hub.
• Support cloud storage and database services, including Azure Storage Accounts, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, and SQL Server.
• Support AI and application services, including Azure Machine Learning, Cognitive Services, and Azure AI Foundry.
• Implement security best practices across cloud infrastructure and deployment processes, including SSL certificate management and network isolation.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, automation, and deployment issues across Linux and Windows Server environments.
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash/Shell, or equivalent scripting languages.
• Apply DevOps principles and Agile methodologies to improve cloud adoption, operational efficiency, and service delivery.
• Collaborate with international teams, particularly teams based in France, to coordinate technical activities and resolve issues.

Qualifications:

• Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Senior-level proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated infrastructure deployments using Terraform.
• CI/CD and Version Control: Senior-level proficiency in Git and CI/CD pipelines, with experience in GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, including Pipelines, Boards, and Repos.
• Microsoft Azure: At least 4–5 years of confirmed experience with Azure cloud services and components, including Storage Accounts, Data Factory or Synapse, SQL Database, Azure Machine Learning, and Azure Cost Management.
• Data Processing and Analytics: Knowledge of Azure data ingestion, processing, analytics, and streaming services, including Databricks, Synapse, Azure Data Explorer, Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Event Grid, and IoT Hub.
• Databases and Storage: Experience with Azure Storage Accounts, Cosmos DB, PostgreSQL Flexible Server, and SQL Server.
• Incident Management and Monitoring: Senior-level experience investigating and resolving complex production incidents using Datadog, Azure Monitor, and other monitoring systems.
• IT Fundamentals, Networking, and Security: Good knowledge of Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTPS, SSL certificates, security principles, and network isolation.
• Automation Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python or Bash/Shell, to automate infrastructure and operational tasks.
• Operating Systems: Solid experience administering and troubleshooting Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Server environments.
• DevOps and Agile Methodologies: Experience applying DevOps practices, automation, and Agile principles to improve deployment reliability and operational efficiency.
• English Communication: Strong English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships with international teams, particularly in France.
• Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues independently, work across Level 2 and Level 3 support, and make sound technical decisions.
• Cloud Security and Governance: Understanding of secure cloud deployment practices, access management, and governance controls.
