Empower Global Aviation Innovation in Lisbon is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to deliver scalable, Java-based solutions for real-time aviation data. You will design and implement backend systems, optimize performance, and build data pipelines with MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and Kafka.

The role requires 5+ years in backend development, a CS/Engineering degree, and strong English communication. The position supports hybrid work with up to 3 days remote and opportunities to influence aviation

Qualificações

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong expertise in Java and its ecosystem.
• Hands-on experience with Linux, SQL/NoSQL databases, and message brokers.
• Excellent problem-solving skills focused on algorithms and system performance.
• Fluent English for technical communication with clients.

• Implement best practices for software architecture, code quality, and cybersecurity.

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to seamlessly integrate distributed services.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 5 years of experience in backend software development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong expertise in Java and its ecosystem.
• Hands‑on experience with Linux, SQL/NoSQL databases, and message brokers.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills focused on algorithms and system performance.
• Fluent English for technical communication with U.S. clients.
• Self‑driven attitude with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt quickly to new technologies.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Knowledge of Portuguese language skills.
• Experience working in aviation or data‑intensive industries.
