Job summary

SERI, part of the Walter Group, designs and manufactures clamping devices and special-purpose machines for international customers. We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our technical team in Vila do Conde, Portugal, to drive automation projects across the full lifecycle from design through installation and support.

You will develop electrical projects, create schematics, program PLCs (Siemens TIA Portal), participate in commissioning, and provide expert technical support.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience in industrial automation environments.
• Experience in PLC programming, preferably using Siemens TIA Portal.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Experience in creating and interpreting electrical schematics.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Professional proficiency in English (minimum B2 level).
• Strong interpersonal and customer-oriented skills.
• Availability for national and international travel.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical projects for special-purpose industrial machines.
• Create electrical schematics and technical documentation.
• Program PLCs and industrial automation systems.
• Participate in equipment commissioning and validation activities.
• Diagnose and resolve faults and technical issues related to automation and control systems.
• Provide specialized technical support to national and international customers.
• Prepare technical reports for interventions and support activities.
• Identify opportunities for equipment and process improvement and optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering, production, and assembly teams in the development of innovative technical solutions.
