Job summary

Hyperexponential is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to own the technical direction of our AI-first platform. You will define architecture standards, drive coherence across teams, and enable autonomous, scalable self-service infrastructure at speed.

You'll shape platform patterns for AI-enabled workflows, security, reliability, and cost efficiency, guiding engineers to build bold, high-impact capabilities while mentoring senior team members and aligning platform work with business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Defined the architecture, standards, and patterns for the platform domain over a multi-quarter horizon.
• Navigating disagreement across senior engineers, architects, and stakeholders to reach durable technical decisions.
• Accountability for outcomes that span multiple teams and that they do not personally deliver.
• Defined how AI and automation are embedded into the platform at an architectural level.
• Understanding of the adoption dynamics, internal customer needs, and the systemic barriers to self-service.
• Identified architectural, security, and operational risks before they become incidents.
• Connecting platform decisions to business outcomes clearly and credibly, and communicating with senior leadership.
• Actively developing senior engineers through technical challenge, honest feedback, and deliberate exposure to harder problems.

Responsibilities

• Establish a coherent 12–18 month technical direction for the platform, with clearly articulated trade-offs and milestones.
• Drive platform adoption by designing well-documented, friction-reducing capabilities.
• Define architectural patterns enabling AI-augmented workflows across the organization.
• Embed security, reliability, and operational excellence into platform standards.
• Mentor and elevate senior engineers by modeling architectural excellence.
