Job summary

Vonage is seeking a Staff Engineer within the Foundation Engineering group to be a technical anchor, shaping the architecture of our cloud-native platform and mentoring engineers across teams. You will lead architectural decisions for scalability and reliability, drive performance improvements, collaborate with product and engineering leadership, and participate in on-call rotation as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and vision for highly concurrent, distributed backend systems
• Drive and own significant architectural decisions for scalability, reliability, and maintainability
• Lead performance optimisation initiatives and resolve complex system-level challenges
• Set coding standards and engineering best practices across the team
• Mentor and grow engineers at all levels
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals
• Provide on-call support as part of an on-call rota
