Job summary

Vonage is seeking a senior backend engineer to help scale our cloud communications platform. You will design and develop highly concurrent services, shape architecture, and mentor teammates.

Working in the RNE group within Foundation Engineering, you will own core backend components, optimize performance, and contribute to cloud-native deployments using Go or Java/Spring Boot, Docker/Kubernetes, and AWS. Join us to help deliver reliable APIs used by global customers.

Qualifications

• Strong Go or Java/Spring Boot backend development experience.
• Experience with highly concurrent, distributed systems at scale.
• Proficiency in REST/HTTP services and relational/non-relational databases.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly concurrent, distributed backend services with high availability.
• Own architectural decisions across teams.
• Lead performance optimisation and diagnose complex issues.
• Design, develop and test new features with quality and reliability.
• Support releases and document features.
• Define coding standards and development processes.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide on-call support.
