Vonage is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Poland to provide technical leadership for highly concurrent backend systems and to drive architectural decisions for a cloud-native platform. You will mentor engineers, set coding standards, and collaborate with product leadership to align technical strategy with business goals.

Ideal candidates have deep experience in Go or JVM, distributed architectures, and containerised cloud environments, with strong database expertise (PostgreSQL/Redis).

Qualifications

• Extensive programming in Go or JVM (Java/Spring Boot).
• Experience building scalable, highly concurrent backend systems.
• Proven leadership, mentoring and engineering growth.
• Containerised apps and cloud-native infrastructure experience.
• Relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis.

Responsabilités

• Provide technical leadership for design and development of highly concurrent backend systems.
• Drive architectural decisions ensuring scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Lead performance optimisation initiatives and resolve complex system-level challenges.
• Set coding standards and engineering best practices; mentor engineers at all levels.
• Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals.
• Provide on-call support as part of an on-call rota.
