Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group is seeking a Manager, Payroll Operations – Eastern Europe to lead a growing payroll function in a newly created, senior role. The position is fully remote and covers Poland and the Czech Republic, with regional ownership of end-to-end payroll across multiple countries.

You will mentor a payroll team, partner with internal stakeholders and external providers, and drive process improvements in an asynchronous, international environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' people management experience.
• Extensive experience within regional or international payroll operations.
• Strong payroll knowledge across Poland and/or the Czech Republic.
• Experience managing third-party payroll providers.
• Experience supporting or implementing payroll across multiple countries.
• Strong understanding of international payroll best practice and compliance.
• Fluent English, alongside fluent Polish or Czech.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets and payroll systems experience; SAP exposure is beneficial.
• A proactive approach to process improvement, automation and operational efficiency.
• The ability to work independently and effectively within a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
• A genuine passion for people management, with a supportive rather than micromanaging leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and mentor the Payroll Operations team.
• Take ownership of end-to-end payroll operations across the region.
• Ensure payroll is delivered accurately, on time and in line with country-specific legislation.
• Manage relationships with third-party payroll, accounting and service providers.
• Act as a key escalation point for payroll-related queries and issues.
• Ensure compliance with corporate and country-specific regulations, policies and procedures.
• Develop and implement payroll best practice across the region.
• Establish and monitor KPIs and SLA metrics for the team.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and automation.
• Keep up to date with international payroll legislation and regulatory changes.
• Support payroll implementation across multiple countries.
• Work collaboratively with internal teams and international stakeholders within a highly asynchronous environment.
