Job summary

Skyways Technics Poland is seeking a Composite Shop Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in the component repair workshop. You will plan daily work, supervise technicians, monitor progress, and ensure repairs follow approved maintenance data and OEM instructions, while maintaining safety standards.

The role requires hands-on leadership, practical coaching, and collaboration with Technical Services to address engineering queries and approvals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years in aircraft composite repair within aviation maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of CMM, SRM, and OEM repair documentation.
• Good command of English (written and spoken).

Position Summary

The Composite Shop Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and coordination of all composite repair activities within the Skyways Technics Poland component repair workshop. The role is responsible for planning and allocating daily work, supervising composite technicians, monitoring repair progress, and ensuring that all composite repairs are performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved maintenance data, company procedures, and applicable Part-145 requirements. The Composite Shop Supervisor is expected to maintain a strong hands-on presence in the workshop while providing technical leadership, coaching, and support to the composite team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Composite Workshop.
• Plan, prioritize, and allocate work to composite technicians based on production priorities, competence, and available resources.
• Conduct daily work allocation meetings and ensure each technician has clearly defined tasks and priorities.
• Monitor repair progress against agreed turnaround times (TAT), estimated completion dates, and workshop production targets.
• Maintain a strong presence on the workshop floor and proactively identify and resolve production bottlenecks.
• Ensure composite repairs are performed in accordance with approved maintenance data, Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Engineering Orders, OEM repair instructions, and company procedures.
• Review repair requirements and ensure technicians understand the repair scope, repair sequence, and applicable technical documentation before work commences.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance and support during complex composite repairs.
• Coordinate with Technical Services regarding damage assessments, engineering queries, OEM repair requests, and repair approvals.
• Ensure damages, additional findings, and repair deviations are identified, documented, and communicated promptly.
• Monitor workshop productivity, labour utilization, and work order progress, escalating any risks to delivery schedules.
• Ensure the availability of manpower, tooling, materials, composite consumables, and equipment required to support planned production.
• Coordinate with Logistics and Purchasing regarding shortages of materials or consumables that may impact workshop activities.
• Verify that composite materials are stored, handled, and controlled in accordance with manufacturer requirements, including shelf life and temperature-controlled storage.
• Ensure all curing equipment, ovens, vacuum systems, and workshop equipment are maintained and used in accordance with approved procedures.
• Ensure maintenance documentation and work records are completed accurately throughout the repair process.
• Maintain high standards of workmanship, quality, housekeeping, Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention, and workplace safety.
• Ensure compliance with Part-145 requirements, company procedures, occupational health and safety legislation, and applicable Polish workplace regulations.
• Supervise, coach, and develop composite technicians while identifying training and competency development needs.
• Support the onboarding and practical integration of new employees.
• Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits and ensure timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, repair quality, workshop flow, and turnaround time.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Composite Workshop.
• Perform hands-on composite repair activities when required to support production or resolve complex repairs.
• Report workshop performance, operational risks, manpower requirements, and production status to the Deputy Group Workshop Manager.
• Qualification requirements:
• Technical or vocational education in Aircraft Maintenance, Composite Technology, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Advanced training in aircraft composite repair techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of composite materials, repair methods, bonding processes, vacuum bagging, curing techniques, and structural repair procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), Engineering Orders, technical drawings, and OEM repair documentation.
• Good knowledge of composite material handling, shelf-life control, and environmental requirements.
• Good understanding of EASA Part-145 requirements, Human Factors, and aviation safety principles.
• Good computer skills and experience using electronic maintenance documentation and workshop management systems.
• Good command of English, both written and spoken.
• Supervisory or leadership training is considered an advantage.

Working Experience Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of practical experience in aircraft composite repair within an aviation maintenance or aircraft component repair environment.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory, team leader, or senior technician role within a composite repair workshop.
• Strong hands-on experience repairing aircraft composite components, flight controls, and structural assemblies.
• Proven experience in composite lay-up, bonding, vacuum bagging, curing, honeycomb repairs, structural bonding, and finishing techniques.
• Experience using Component Maintenance Manuals (CMM), Structural Repair Manuals (SRM), technical drawings, Engineering Orders, and OEM repair documentation.
• Experience supervising workshop activities, allocating daily workloads, and monitoring production performance.
• Previous experience within a Part-145-approved maintenance organization is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting internal, customer, and authority audits.
• Experience with ATR aircraft components and flight control repairs is considered a strong advantage.
