Team Lead – Hospital Workforce Scheduling
The Team Lead – Hospital Workforce Scheduling is responsible for leading a centralized healthcare scheduling team that develops, optimizes and maintains workforce schedules across supported clinical and operational departments within Bon Secours Mercy Health. This role drives staffing efficiency, schedule accuracy and workforce coverage while ensuring alignment with organizational policies and operational needs.
Operating within a Global Business Services environment, this role supports cross-functional collaboration, operational excellence and service delivery outcomes for U.S. healthcare teams.
Lead and develop a team of workforce scheduling specialists supporting a centralized scheduling function
Supervise, coach, and mentor team members while promoting accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement
Monitor team performance and address service, productivity and quality opportunities
Ensure workforce schedules are completed accurately and on time to support operational coverage requirements
Optimize staffing schedules while maintaining appropriate skill mix and workforce utilization
Oversee schedule balancing and validation processes before schedule publication
Manage ongoing schedule maintenance and coverage adjustments within workforce management systems
Collaborate with operational leaders to identify staffing gaps and elevate workforce planning needs
Ensure compliance with organizational scheduling guidelines, pay practices and workforce policies
Serve as the primary escalation point for scheduling inquiries and complex workforce issues
Support premium pay programs, incentive shift processes and workforce reporting requirements
Monitor key performance indicators and service level metrics to drive operational effectiveness
Generate and analyze workforce reports to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
Partner with leaders across departments to deliver exceptional customer service and operational support
Support compliance with labor relations requirements, collective bargaining agreements and workforce regulations when applicable
Maintain accurate workforce records, communications and scheduling documentation
Drive continuous process improvement initiatives that enhance scheduling efficiency and employee experience
Required Experience
3+ years of experience using staffing, scheduling or workforce management software in a 24/7 healthcare environment
3+ years of experience in a lead, team leadership or supervisory role
Experience managing workforce schedules, staffing coverage and operational resource allocation
Experience working with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced healthcare or shared services environment
Knowledge of workforce scheduling best practices, staffing optimization and operational planning
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Preferred Experience
Experience with UKG Workforce Management
Experience supporting U.S. healthcare operations
Knowledge of labor relations processes and collective bargaining agreement administration
Experience developing workforce performance reports and key performance indicator dashboards
Education
Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering or a related field required
Certifications
UKG Workforce Management Certification preferred upon hire and required within 12 months of employment
