The Healthcare Workforce Scheduling Optimization Manager is responsible for leading workforce planning, centralized nursing scheduling and resource optimization strategies that support efficient staffing operations across Bon Secours Mercy Health.
Operating within a Global Business Services environment, this role provides strategic and operational leadership for the Resource Optimization Center (ROC) and centralized scheduling functions. The Manager partners with nursing, clinical and operational leaders to optimize workforce utilization, improve scheduling effectiveness, enhance service delivery and drive continuous improvement across supported healthcare operations.
Lead the Resource Optimization Center (ROC) and centralized scheduling operations to ensure consistent service delivery, operational excellence and alignment with organizational goals.
Manage and develop scheduling teams by driving productivity, quality, employee engagement and service performance.
Oversee workforce optimization initiatives including staffing allocation, scheduling, capacity planning and resource management.
Collaborate with nursing leadership and operational stakeholders to support workforce forecasting, labor planning and enterprise staffing strategies.
Monitor and improve workforce performance through key performance indicators (KPIs), service level agreements (SLAs) and operational metrics.
Analyze workforce data and operational trends to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, improved staffing outcomes and enhanced resource utilization.
Provide leadership reporting, workforce insights and recommendations that support informed decision-making.
Lead process improvement initiatives focused on standardization, automation, workflow enhancement and technology optimization.
Support organizational transformation efforts by implementing best practices and sustainable operational improvements.
Partner with clinical, operational, human resources and finance leaders to align workforce strategies with organizational priorities.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, labor guidelines, operational standards and quality requirements.
Oversee audits, documentation, reporting and quality assurance processes to support operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
Address operational issues and implement corrective actions to minimize risk and maintain service continuity.
Foster strong collaboration across domestic and global teams to ensure effective workforce management and scheduling support.
7+ years of relevant experience in workforce management, staffing operations, scheduling operations, healthcare operations, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), Global Business Services (GBS) or shared services environments required.
Leadership experience managing workforce, scheduling or operational teams required.
Experience driving workforce optimization, labor planning, staffing allocation and operational performance improvement initiatives required.
Experience leveraging workforce analytics and operational data to support decision-making and strategic planning required.
Experience supporting hospital operations or healthcare environments preferred.
Experience with workforce planning methodologies, labor optimization strategies and operational forecasting preferred.
Experience with workforce management and scheduling technologies preferred.
Experience working within a matrixed, service-oriented organization preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Management or a related field required.
Registered Nurse (RN) preferred.
UKG Workforce Management Certification (UKG) preferred.
