Job Summary
The Manager, Workforce Optimization is responsible for leading centralized workforce planning, staffing and scheduling operations that support U.S. healthcare services. This role drives workforce efficiency, resource utilization and operational performance through effective staffing strategies, data-driven decision-making and continuous process improvement.
Operating within a Global Business Services environment, this role partners with clinical, operational, human resources and finance leaders to ensure workforce resources are aligned with business needs while maintaining service excellence and operational standards.
What you’ll do
Workforce Operations Leadership
- Lead centralized staffing, workforce planning and scheduling operations supporting healthcare services.
- Establish operational goals, service standards and performance expectations aligned with organizational objectives.
- Monitor productivity, quality and service delivery metrics to ensure operational excellence.
- Provide leadership, coaching and development for scheduling and workforce management teams.
- Ensure consistent execution of staffing and scheduling processes across supported operations.
Workforce Planning and Resource Optimization
- Develop and implement workforce optimization strategies to improve labor utilization and scheduling effectiveness.
- Manage staffing allocation, scheduling workflows and capacity planning activities.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to support workforce forecasting and labor management initiatives.
- Analyze workforce trends and staffing metrics to identify operational risks and improvement opportunities.
- Support enterprise-wide workforce planning and centralized staffing programs.
Performance Management and Analytics
- Establish and manage key performance indicators, service level agreements and operational benchmarks.
- Analyze operational reports to evaluate productivity, workforce efficiency and service quality.
- Drive accountability for achieving performance targets and business objectives.
- Present workforce performance trends, insights and recommendations to leadership stakeholders.
- Use data analytics to support strategic workforce decisions and operational improvements.
Process Improvement and Transformation
- Lead initiatives that improve operational efficiency, process standardization and service delivery.
- Identify workflow gaps and implement solutions that improve workforce management outcomes.
- Support implementation and optimization of workforce management and scheduling technologies.
- Participate in operational transformation, transition and change management initiatives.
- Promote continuous improvement and best practices across teams and functions.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, finance, human resources and administrative leaders to address workforce needs.
- Serve as a strategic partner for staffing and scheduling initiatives.
- Facilitate coordination between global and U.S.-based stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships that support operational alignment and service excellence.
- Provide workforce insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
Compliance and Quality Management
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, labor requirements and workforce management standards.
- Oversee quality assurance activities and operational audits related to staffing and scheduling processes.
- Maintain accurate documentation, reporting and operational procedures.
- Support risk identification, issue resolution and escalation processes.
- Ensure adherence to workforce governance and operational controls.
What you’ll bring
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in workforce management, staffing operations, scheduling operations, healthcare operations, business process outsourcing or shared services environments required.
- 7+ years of leadership experience managing operational teams required.
- Experience supporting hospital or healthcare operations preferred.
- Knowledge of workforce planning methodologies, labor optimization strategies and forecasting required.
- Experience managing workforce management technologies and scheduling platforms preferred.
- Strong analytical, stakeholder management and process improvement skills required.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Management or related field required.
Certifications and Licensure
- Registered Nurse (RN) license preferred.
- UKG Workforce Management Certification preferred.
