ING Hubs Philippines is seeking a hands-on Team Lead to guide a group of 10–12 backend engineers, delivering secure, scalable banking solutions while mentoring talent.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, Architects and Business Analysts to align delivery with business goals, drive modern engineering practices, and uphold high standards of code quality and reliability.

This role blends people leadership with technical delivery in a fast-paced, cloud-enabled environment across global teams.

Role Summary

As a Team Lead, you will lead a team of 10-12 backend engineers while remaining actively involved in software delivery and technical decision‑making. You'll balance people leadership with hands‑on engineering, helping your team deliver high‑quality solutions while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Working closely with Product Owners, Architects, Business Analysts, and Engineering Leaders, you'll guide delivery priorities, support architectural decisions, and help drive the adoption of modern engineering practices.

Required Skills

Leadership & Delivery

• Minimum 5 years of people leadership experience within software engineering teams
• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing engineers
• Experience managing team performance, career development, and recruitment activities
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship‑building skills
• Demonstrated success delivering enterprise‑scale technology solutions
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed decisions in fast‑paced environments
• Experience working within Agile delivery models
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Technical Expertise

Must Have

• Strong backend engineering experience using Java (Java 11+ preferred)
• Experience developing applications using Kotlin
• Deep expertise with Spring Framework and Spring Boot
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture
• Experience with Azure and cloud‑based development environments
• Experience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices and software delivery automation
• Experience with Git and modern source control practices
• Knowledge of automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito
• Strong understanding of software design principles, object‑oriented programming, and secure software development practices

Preferred

• Financial services or banking industry experience
• Experience with SQL databases, JPA, and Hibernate
• Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps, Maven, and related engineering toolchains
• Knowledge of reliability engineering and operational excellence practices
