Job summary

ING Hubs Philippines is seeking a Backend Engineer to join ING Retail Tech PH. You will contribute to building reliable backend applications, implement RESTful APIs, and integrate with data stores while embracing DevOps practices and an Agile mindset.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, write automated tests, participate in design reviews, and help mentor teammates as you stay current with new technologies and industry trends.

Qualifications

• Must Have: Proficiency in Java 8+ and Spring/Spring Boot.
• Must Have: Experience with Git and RESTful API development.
• Must Have: Test Automation (JUnit, Mockito).
• Nice to Have: Experience with SQL/JPA/Hibernate.
• Nice to Have: CI/CD (Azure DevOps) and Maven.

Key Capabilities/Experience

• Proven track-record of building backend solutions, including implementing RESTful APIs, interfacing with databases, and integrating with messaging services, using a modern tech stack
• Strong fundamentals in software development, including proficiency in OOP, functional programming, design patterns, concurrency, and TDD
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and test automation
• Experience working in Agile, collaborating with teams, and demonstrating adaptability in a multicultural environment
• Willingness to learn cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and IT risk

Minimum Qualifications

• Must Have
• Proficiency in Java 8 or higher, Java 11 or higher is preferred
• Competency in Spring and Spring boot
• Experience in code versioning tools, preferably Git
• Experience in Test Automation (JUnit, Mockito, etc.)
• Working knowledge in RESTful API Development
• Effective Communication

• Experience with database technologies such as SQL, JPA, Hibernate, etc.
• Working knowledge in Microservices Architecture, Containerization, and Orchestration
