Job summary

Hammerjack Pty Ltd is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper (QuickBooks Online) to review and streamline bookkeeping processes, mentor staff, and create SOPs for client engagements. This role supports a dynamic team across multiple construction-industry clients, operating primarily during Pacific Time hours.

Responsibilities include coaching, tax filings, payroll processing, and maintaining accurate financial records.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience managing multiple clients in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Minimum of 3 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience.
• Holds a QuickBooks Online Certification (Advanced Certification is a plus).
• Strong knowledge of cash vs. accrual accounting.
• Experience with construction industry accounting is a bonus.
• Fluent English communication (written and verbal).
• Willingness to work Pacific Time hours (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM PT).
• Reliable internet and quiet home office setup.

Responsibilities

• Review bookkeeping work at month-end and daily as needed, coaching and guiding team members.
• Manage accounts receivable (invoicing) and accounts payable (bill payments).
• Prepare and review sales and excise tax filings.
• Assist with cleanups/catch-ups and set up standardized processes along the way.
• Create SOPs and video training content.
• Lead trainings to build technical and client-facing skills across the team.
• Support and mentor bookkeepers while reviewing financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, etc.).
• Serve as a trusted point of contact for complex or high-value clients.
• Ensure smooth onboarding for new clients.
• Identify ways to improve processes, team workflows, and client experience.
• Maintain a positive, problem-solving attitude during high-volume periods.
• Perform bookkeeping and accounting tasks for construction industry clients, including job costing and specialized construction accounting.
• Process sales tax and payroll for multiple clients.
• Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online.
• Access and manage client financial data and bank accounts.
• Work collaboratively with the US-based team during Pacific Time business hours.
