About the role

SABPPTECH SERVICES INCORPORATED is seeking a dedicated and proactive Safety Officer to join our team on a full-time basis in Santo Tomas City, Batangas. This is a critical position within our construction operations, where you will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment and promoting a strong health and safety culture across all our projects. As Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting our workforce, minimizing incidents, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and safety violations.
• Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures and protocols tailored to construction operations.
• Provide ongoing safety training and induction programs to all workers, ensuring they understand and comply with safety requirements.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near-misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence
• Monitor and maintain safety records, incident reports and compliance documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings on construction sites to raise awareness and reinforce safe working practices.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities and external safety consultants to ensure adherence to legal obligations.
• Inspect personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety equipment, ensuring they meet standards and are properly maintained.
• Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging with workers at all levels and encouraging reporting of safety concerns.
• Prepare safety reports and statistics for management review and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for

• Recognized health and safety qualification or certification relevant to construction (such as BOSH/COSH, or equivalent certification).
• Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience as a Safety Officer or Health and Safety professional within the construction and/or engineering industry, preferably SO2 or SO3.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards, regulations and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage workers at all levels and promote safety awareness.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct risk assessments, incident investigations and hazard analysis.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to maintain comprehensive safety documentation.
• Proficiency in health and safety management systems and incident reporting software.
• Physical fitness and ability to work on construction sites in varying environmental conditions.
• Familiarity with local Philippine safety regulations and compliance requirements (an advantage).
• Leadership qualities with the ability to influence behavior and drive continuous safety improvements.
