Job summary

GoLean Health is seeking a Medical Virtual Assistant to support the clinic’s billing and insurance workflows remotely. The role emphasizes proactive problem-solving, sharp attention to detail, and strong English communication to help reduce administrative load for the provider and care team.

The position is 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a pay rate of $5–$6 per hour and potential performance-based increases after 6 months.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Virtual Assistant.
Experience supporting a US healthcare practice.
Experience with insurance verification, EOBs, claims, denied claims, patient balances, or billing support.
Exposure to CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Must be a Mac OS user.
Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proven leadership, ownership, or high-accountability experience in a previous role.

Responsibilities

Verify patient insurance after check-in and document updates.
Review denied claims and assist with reprocessing; track issues.
Review and process EOBs; clear backlogs with accurate documentation.
Track outstanding balances and coordinate resolution steps.
Support claims processing for Cigna and VA; escalate as needed.
Assist with vendor payment coordination and timely payments.
Monitor SOAP note completion and accuracy; flag gaps.
Track missed/canceled appointments and scheduling trends.
Prepare reports on balances, missed/canceled ERPs, EOB backlog, and denials with insights.
Foster smooth communication between provider, care team, and admin staff.
Identify workflow gaps and propose practical improvements.
