A Glimpse into Your New Role
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for high-volume, accurate payroll data entry and transactional processing supporting Australian and New Zealand payroll, prepared for review by the Senior Payroll Specialist and onshore sign-off. Working within operating environments, the role focuses on accurate, timely and compliant transactional processing and first-line query triage.
As anPayroll Specialist,you will:
Transactional Processing
- Perform high-volume, accurate data entry for new hires, employee changes and standard terminations.
- Chase and validate timesheet and roster exceptions in Dayforce.
- Enter leave, deductions and entitlement updates against configured rules.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation digitally in line with Acquire’s SOE (no hardcopy).
Queries & Support
- Triage tier-1 employee and manager queries and support inbox management; resolve routine items and elevate the remainder to the Senior Payroll Specialist.
- Support reconciliations and standard reporting as directed.
Quality, Compliance & Improvement
- Follow payroll SOPs and Acquire’s SOE, least-access and no-hardcopy production-floor rules.
- Support compliance activities within agreed processes and SOPs.
- Identify process-improvement opportunities.
- Flag anomalies and potential issues early.

Required Skills & Competencies:
Work Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in payroll or high-volume data-entry / transactional processing
- Australian payroll experience preferred but not required.
- Exposure to payroll or rostering systems; experience with Dayforce is an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Familiarity with Australian payroll concepts is an advantage.
Advantageous Experience
- Exposure to a large casual / retail workforce.
- Experience in an outsourced / shared-services environment.
Interpersonal / Professional Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy are essential, particularly when processing high-volume payroll data.
- Clear written and verbal English communication.
- Strong communication and customer service skills are essential, with the ability to respond professionally to employee and manager queries.
- Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive data.
- Reliable; follows process and escalates appropriately.
- Comfortable with repetitive, deadline-driven work and with change.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet payroll deadlines.
