Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Payroll Processor in the Philippines to support accurate, timely payroll processing for a high-volume U.S. workforce in a shared services setting.

You will execute payroll transactions, validate time data, resolve inquiries, and ensure compliance with U.S. tax regulations using Workday, UKG, and ServiceNow. Hybrid/onsite or virtual arrangements available.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • 1–2 years of U.S. payroll processing experience in a shared services or multi-state environment is required.
  • Experience with Workday and UKG payroll systems is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data reconciliation tasks.
  • Certifications in U.S. payroll (e.g., FPC) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process U.S. Payroll Transactions including earnings, adjustments, deductions, and tax updates per policy.
  • Validate and audit data, run exception reports, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal/state/local regulations and SOX controls.

Job Summary:

The Payroll Processor supports accurate, timely payroll processing for a high-volume, multi-jurisdictional U.S. workforce within a shared services environment. This role is responsible for executing payroll transactions, validating time and pay data, resolving associate inquiries, and maintaining compliance with U.S. federal, state, and local tax regulations. The Payroll Processor partners with internal teams to deliver consistent, compliant, and service-oriented payroll operations using enterprise payroll and timekeeping systems.

Essential Functions:
  • Process U.S. Payroll Transactions: Accurately execute assigned payroll tasks such as uploading earnings, adjustments, deductions, and tax updates in accordance with U.S. and internal policies
  • Validate and Audit Data: Run and review exception reports to identify discrepancies; ensure payroll accuracy prior to submission and elevate anomalies as needed
  • Ensure Compliance: Follow standard operating procedures and U.S. labor/tax regulations, applying local understanding to ensure compliance and minimize risk
  • Support Off-Cycle Payrolls: Assist in preparing and validating manual or off-cycle payments, ensuring necessary approvals and documentation are in place
  • Respond to Payroll Inquiries: Use ServiceNow or other ticketing systems to research and resolve associate inquiries regarding pay discrepancies, taxes, and timekeeping
  • Update Timekeeping Data: Enter historical corrections and edits in UKG or other time and attendance systems to ensure payroll reflects actual work data
  • Generate Payroll Reports: Support reporting needs by preparing summaries or extracts required for audits, reconciliations, or internal reviews
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Coordinate with HR, Finance, and Workforce Management functions to resolve payroll-impacting issues
  • Generate pre and post payroll reports according to processes and create ad hoc reports as requested
  • Maintain Confidentiality and Data Integrity
    Safeguard sensitive employee and payroll data by adhering to confidentiality policies and secure handling procedures at all times.
  • Follow Payroll Controls, Policies, and Deadlines
    Execute tasks in alignment with internal financial controls, SOX requirements, and payroll processing timelines.

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (required)
Required Licensing & Certifications:
  • Certification in U.S. payroll (e.g., FPC – Fundamental Payroll Certification) (preferred)
Experience:
  • 1–2 years of U.S. payroll processing experience in a shared services or multi-state environment (required)
  • Experience working in a matrixed or global HR operations setting (preferred)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for reconciliation or report extraction (required)
  • Workday payroll processing experience (required)
  • UKG Time and Attendance systems (required)
  • Compass Service Management (ServiceNow) (preferred)
Skills & Abilities:
  • Experienced in computer applications including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Knows how to use 10 key calculator and has basic mathematical skills
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, specifically pivot tables, filtering, sorting, formulas and V-lookup tables
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables, formulas, filtering, sorting, and VLOOKUP functions for validation and auditing of payroll data.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word for documentation and communication.
  • Accurate numeric data entry skills, including use of 10-key calculator.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, especially in handling pay data and audit reports.
  • Basic understanding of Workday and UKG payroll systems and terminology, including but not limited to gross pay, net pay, tax withholdings, deductions, benefits, pay period, pay slip, and W-2.
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and meet deadlines in a high-volume, complex, and time-sensitive environment.
