Job summary

DHL Express is seeking an experienced Operations Supervisor to oversee daily ground and area operations in Metro Manila. You will coordinate shifts, ensure proper handling of shipments, and drive performance improvements across DHL networks with strong stakeholder engagement.

The role requires 4–5 years in logistics/transport and certifications in safety and DG handling. Candidates should have excellent English communication and leadership capabilities to maintain high service standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or equivalent qualification required.
• Line Trainer Certification required.
• First Aid Certification required.
• IATA Dangerous Goods Acceptance Certification required.
• Minimum of 4–5 years of operations experience in logistics, transportation, aviation, or supply chain.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily ground and area operations to ensure shipments enter/exit in compliance with DHL procedures and transit times.
• Organize shift schedules and staffing to meet operational requirements.
• Ensure incoming shipments are recovered, break-bulked, inspected, and processed efficiently.
• Manage receipt and dispatch of outbound shipments for timely departure and uplift.
• Ensure accurate sorting, handling, and loading of shipments.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate with warehouse providers, airlines, freight forwarders, and ground handling agents to ensure service quality.
• Collaborate with Service Centre Manager to achieve targets and drive improvements.
• Review daily performance with local operations teams and address challenges.

Your Task:

• Supervise daily ground and area operations activities to ensure shipments enter and exit the country in compliance with DHL network procedures and transit time standards.
• Organize shift schedules and staffing levels to meet operational requirements and service demands.
• Ensure incoming shipments are recovered, break-bulked, inspected, and processed efficiently.
• Manage the receipt and dispatch of outbound shipments to ensure timely departure and uplift.
• Ensure accurate sorting, handling, and loading of inbound and outbound shipments.
• Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions to improve service efficiency and productivity.
• Handle special requests and support daily operational communication across the DHL network.
• Maintain effective working relationships with customers and ensure prompt coordination and communication regarding operational requirements.
• Collaborate with the Service Centre Manager to achieve operational targets and drive performance improvements.
• Coordinate with warehouse providers, suppliers, airlines, freight forwarders, and ground handling agents to ensure service quality and compliance with DHL standards.
• Ensure the proper transfer of shipments and documentation between stakeholders.
• Work closely with local operations teams to review daily performance and address operational challenges.
• Ensure safe working practices and maintain a safe working environment during all shifts.
• Support and participate in quality assurance programs and initiatives, including ISO compliance requirements.
• Monitor vendor and warehouse provider performance and complete required operational and quality reports.
• Assist in identifying operational risks and implementing preventive or corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain a high-performance service culture within the operations team.
• Plan, organize, and direct team activities to achieve operational objectives and performance targets.
• Establish and monitor individual and team KPIs/IKOs.
• Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback to team members.
• Manage workforce allocation and resource planning to support business objectives.
• Identify training and development needs and implement learning opportunities for staff.
• Promote employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Support employee development and retention initiatives while minimizing unplanned staff turnover.

What you bring:

• Diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Minimum of 4–5 years of operations experience, preferably within the transportation, logistics, aviation, or supply chain industry.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong understanding of ground operations, shipment handling, warehouse processes, and logistics operations.
• Ability to monitor operational performance and prepare reports.
• Knowledge of safety, quality, and compliance standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, airlines, freight forwarders, agents, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrates a strong customer focus by identifying customer needs and delivering efficient, professional, and high-quality service.
