Responsibilities

• Lead or supervise installation, replacement, and commissioning of new equipment.
• Maintain logs of service histories and PM schedules in CMMS.
• Interface with vendors and inspectors for specialized repairs.

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance & Repair Specialist to oversee the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of all commercial kitchen appliances across our facilities.

In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with health and safety standards. The ideal candidate possesses deep mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, hands‑on experience with diverse kitchen equipment, and a proactive approach to equipment care.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

1. Preventive Maintenance (PM)

• Design, implement, and execute routine preventive maintenance schedules for all kitchen appliances (e.g., commercial ovens, deep fryers, walk-in coolers/freezers, dishwashers, ice machines, ventilation hoods, espresso machines, and microwaves).
• Inspect electrical, plumbing, gas, and mechanical components regularly to identify wear and tear before equipment failure occurs.
• Clean, calibrate, and service key parts (e.g., condenser coils, door gaskets, water filtration systems, heating elements, and thermostats).

2. Diagnostics & Repairs

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, gas, and plumbing issues in kitchen equipment promptly.
• Perform high-quality, safe repairs using appropriate hand and power tools, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration units (including coolant leaks, compressor issues, and defrost cycles).
• Respond urgently to emergency repair requests to minimize operational downtime.
• Evaluate old or malfunctioning appliances to determine cost-effectiveness of repair versus replacement.
• Lead or supervise the uninstallation, safe disposal, installation, and commissioning of new kitchen machinery and equipment.
• Ensure all new installations adhere to local building codes, manufacturer specifications, and safety regulations.
• Maintain an inventory of essential spare parts, tools, and supplies to ensure rapid turnarounds on repairs.
• Maintain detailed logs of service histories, repairs, parts used, and PM schedules using our computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Interface with external service vendors, warranty representatives, and inspectors when specialized repairs or certifications are needed.
• Ensure all work complies with OSHA regulations, local health codes, gas safety standards, and environmental regulations (e.g., EPA guidelines for refrigerant handling).
