Job summary

Vista Marina Hotel is seeking a dedicated Kitchen Helper to join our culinary team in Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales. You will support preparation, cooking, and service, working closely with senior kitchen staff to uphold our high standards of food safety and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping vegetables and meats.
• Assist chefs in food preparation and cooking processes per recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen at all times.
• Dispose of food waste following health and safety regulations.
• Stock and organise kitchen supplies for ready use.
• Support delivery and storage of fresh ingredients.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
• Assist with plating and garnishing under supervision of senior staff.

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Helper to join the culinary team at Vista Marina Hotel, part of FOD CORPORATION. This is a full-time position based in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales. As a Kitchen Helper, you will play a vital role in supporting our kitchen operations, ensuring that our guests receive exceptional dining experiences. You will work alongside our experienced chefs and kitchen staff to maintain the highest standards of food preparation, cleanliness, and safety. This role is essential to the smooth running of our food service operations and directly contributes to our reputation for excellence in hospitality.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients for cooking by washing, peeling, chopping, and slicing vegetables, meats, and other food items
• Assist chefs in food preparation and cooking processes, following recipes and kitchen procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, cutting boards, and kitchen equipment
• Dispose of food waste and rubbish in accordance with health and safety regulations
• Stock and organise kitchen supplies, ensuring all materials are readily available and properly stored
• Support the delivery and storage of fresh ingredients and provisions
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment and appliances safely and effectively
• Assist with food plating and garnishing under the direction of senior kitchen staff
• Maintain the kitchen workspace in a tidy and organised manner at all times
• Follow all food safety and sanitation protocols to prevent contamination and ensure guest safety
• Work efficiently during busy service periods, responding promptly to kitchen demands

What we're looking for

• Previous experience working in a kitchen environment or hospitality setting is preferred but not essential
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety
• Physical fitness and ability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry heavy items, and work in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills with the ability to take direction from senior kitchen staff
• Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude towards work
• Willingness to learn and develop skills in food preparation techniques
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices is advantageous
• Ability to work flexibly, including weekends and public holidays as required by the hotel
