Job summary

Boart Longyear is seeking an Inventory Accountant within the Shared Services Accounting and Finance team. The role supports accurate inventory accounting and control by maintaining records, monitoring transactions, and assisting in counts and reporting.

You will collaborate with field and warehouse operations to ensure inventory movement is properly accounted for. Key tasks include maintaining records, managing purchase orders, coordinating stock counts, and driving improvements in inventory

Qualifications

• 3+ years of directly related experience.
• Experience in warehousing, logistics, inventory control, or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of inventory management software and Oracle material transactions.
• Understanding of ABC analysis, stock level calculations, and inventory management practices.
• Exposure to lean and JIT principles is an asset.
• Good computer literacy and Excel proficiency with strong data entry skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize work.
• High attention to detail.
• Ability to work autonomously.
• Capability to implement improvements and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory records.
• Inventory Tracking: Create and manage spreadsheets to track goods, stock levels, re-order points, and related inventory information. Review aging reports to identify obsolete inventory.
• Inventory Transactions: Enter work orders and coordinate inventory transfers and work order completions.
• Purchase Orders: Raise and manage purchase orders to support timely supply of products.
• Goods Flow and Warehouse Support: Work with shipping, receiving, and stockroom teams to maintain awareness of goods flow, manage warehouse stock levels, and implement inventory control good practices.
• Stock Counts: Coordinate periodic company-wide physical inventory count, support stock takes, and perform periodic regular cycle counts. Reconcile physical counts to subledger/general ledger balances and investigate variances and write-offs.
• Inventory Accuracy: Develop and implement inventory control systems and practices to ensure accuracy in inventory counts, locations, and transactions under the FIFO method
• Inventory Planning: Track orders to prevent overstocking and stock-out situations by monitoring reorder points and inventory transfers to distribution centers.
• Inventory Reporting: Review the Receiving Value Report, WIP transaction report, and other QlikView inventory transaction reports to maintain accuracy in inventory counts.
• Month end reporting: Run detailed inventory listing and ensure this ties to the GL.
• GPI (Gross Profit in Inventory) Monitoring – Track and book GPI monthly to ensure accuracy of consolidated financial statements.
• Off‑Site Inventory: Travel to off‑site locations as needed to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Process Improvement: Identify and implement inventory control improvements and initiatives, including opportunities identified through Tier Meetings.
• EHS: Promote and adhere to EHS policies and procedures.
