GJH SERCONS, INC. is seeking a results-driven Import/Customs professional to manage end-to-end international shipping from foreign suppliers to domestic destinations.

The role sits in the Import Department and focuses on regulatory compliance, shipment documentation, and cost control. You will coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers while maintaining real-time visibility of shipments and collaborating with sales, inventory, and finance teams to optimize efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration, Customs Management, International Trade, Logistics, or related field.
  • 1+ year of relevant experience in customs, importation, logistics, or international trade; fresh graduates welcome.
  • Knowledge of import tariffs, HS codes, duty structures, permits, and related regulations.
  • Familiarity with Incoterms (FOB, CIF, DDP, EXW) and implications on responsibilities and costs.
  • Attention to detail in preparing and reviewing trade documents (B/L, AWB, invoices, packing lists, COO, permits).
  • Ability to prepare landed cost estimates, verify invoices, negotiate freight rates, and monitor demurrage/ detention.

About the role

Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end international shipping process and ensuring the seamless movement of imported goods from foreign suppliers to domestic destinations. Working within the Import Department, this role manages critical trade documentation, liaises with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and ocean/air carriers, and enforces strict regulatory and tariff compliance. The ideal candidate acts as a proactive operational hub—minimizing transit delays, controlling freight and demurrage costs, maintaining real-time tracking visibility, and collaborating across sales, inventory, and finance teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.

About you
  • Bachelor’s degree in Customs Administration, Customs Management, International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience in customs, importation, logistics, international trade, or a related field. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.
  • Working knowledge of import tariffs, Harmonized System (HS) codes, duty structures, import permits, and applicable customs and international trade regulations.
  • Familiarity with International Commercial Terms (Incoterms) such as FOB, CIF, DDP, and EXW, including their implications on buyer/seller responsibilities, risk transfer, and cost allocation.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing, reviewing, verifying, and maintaining trade and importation documents, including Bills of Lading (B/L), Air Waybills (AWB), Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin (COO), and Import Licenses/Permits.
  • Ability to prepare and evaluate landed cost estimates, verify shipping and freight invoices, coordinate and negotiate freight rates, and monitor demurrage and detention charges.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple importation-related tasks while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for documentation, monitoring, and cost analysis.
