An HR Officer manages the employment process, including recruitment, hiring, and onboarding new staff. Their responsibilities include overseeing employee relations, managing compensation and benefits, ensuring legal compliance, and supporting staff training and development. The role requires strong organizational and communication skills to handle both administrative and strategic human resources tasks.
Core responsibilities:
- Recruitment and hiring: Posting job openings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and coordinating the hiring process.
- Onboarding and training: Orienting new employees, facilitating paperwork, and organizing training sessions.
- Employee relations: Managing employee grievances, conducting investigations, and advising management and staff on HR policies.
- Compensation and benefits: Administering employee benefits programs, assisting with payroll, and ensuring employees are paid on time.
- Legal compliance: Ensuring the company adheres to all labor laws and regulations, and maintaining accurate employee records.
- Performance management: Assisting with performance reviews and developing performance improvement plans.
Key skills and qualifications:
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive conversations with diplomacy.
- Organization: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively.
