Job summary

1st Paragon Logistics Int'l Inc. is seeking an experienced Customs Documentation Specialist to manage declarations and ensure regulatory compliance in the Philippines.

You will review import documents, classify goods under HS codes, and liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to resolve clearance issues. Strong MS Office skills and bilingual communication in English and Filipino are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Customs Administration.
• 1–2 years in customs documentation, brokerage, or freight forwarding.
• Working knowledge of Philippine customs regulations, tariff classification, and computation of duties and taxes.
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; able to learn customs systems quickly.
• Excellent oral and written communication in English and Filipino; detail-oriented and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and file customs declarations, entry forms, and related documentation in compliance with Philippine customs regulations and international trade requirements.
• Review shipping documents, invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists for accuracy before submission to customs.
• Classify commodities under HS codes and compute duties, taxes, and other charges.
• Lodge goods declarations with the Bureau of Customs and other regulatory agencies.
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and government agencies to clarify documentation and resolve clearance issues.
• Monitor shipments through the customs clearance process and ensure timely release of goods.
• Maintain accurate records of all customs transactions, declarations, and communications for audit and compliance.
• Provide clients with timely and accurate updates on shipment status and flag potential compliance risks in documentation.

About the role

This role involves preparing and filing customs declarations, entry forms, and related documentation in compliance with Philippine customs regulations and international trade requirements. You will review shipping documents, classify commodities under correct tariff headings, lodge goods declarations with regulatory agencies, and coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to resolve clearance issues.

Key responsibilities

• Review shipping documents, invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists to ensure accuracy and completeness before customs submission
• Classify commodities under their correct tariff headings (HS codes) and compute applicable duties, taxes, and other charges
• Lodge goods declarations with the Bureau of Customs and other relevant regulatory agencies
• Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and government agencies to clarify documentation and resolve clearance issues
• Monitor and track shipments through the customs clearance process, ensuring timely release of goods
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all customs transactions, declarations, and communications for audit and compliance purposes
• Provide clients with timely and accurate updates on shipment status
• Flag potential compliance risks or discrepancies in shipment documentation and flag as needed
• Stay updated on changes in customs regulations, tariff classifications, and trade policies affecting import/export operations

About you

• Bachelor's degree in Customs Administration
• At least 1–2 years of experience in customs documentation, brokerage, or freight forwarding
• Working knowledge of Philippine customs regulations, tariff classification, and computation of duties and taxes
• Familiarity with HS codes and basic understanding of INCOTERMS
• Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel; able to quickly learn customs declaration systems/platforms
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, in English and Filipino
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to process documentation accurately under deadlines
• Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple shipments simultaneously
• Proactive, results-oriented, and a strong team player who can also work with minimal supervision
• Reliable and able to maintain confidentiality when handling client and regulatory documentation
